Maybe we're ahead of schedule and I just don't see It...that Is...compared to Lincoln Riley's record at East Carolina.
Back when It was rumored that Lincoln Riley was to become our OC...I looked at his record at ECU.
Back then...I made some notes and stats that bothered me...I didn't post my concerns because I wanted this new hire & new offense to work...real bad.
At the time...I thought...we've got better athletes than ECU...but we've also got a tougher schedule.
I like a lot of things about Riley...and maybe...and I hope...Its just that he needs time.
Maybe I just need to be more patient with this obvious still developing offense & player development?
But with the athletes we have...and a defense that's kept us In most games....and then I hear Lincoln Riley say "the beauty of this offense"...I reflect back on his five year record at ECU.
In the five years that Lincoln Riley was at ECU...they only beat nine teams, In five years, that had a winning record...averaging 1.8 wins per year over teams with a winning record.
During those five years...the combined won/loss record of those teams they beat, teams with a winning record, was 73-43 (59%)
In Riley's five years at ECU...his overall record was 37-27 (58%)...Conference record was 27-13 (67.5%).
The teams ECU beat with a winning record:
2014...7-6 Virginia Tech
2013...9-4 Old Dominion, 7-6 North Carolina, 8-5 Middle Tenn., 7-6 Ohio.
2012...8-4 Appalachian St.
2011...none.
2010...10-3 Tulsa, 8-5 So. Miss., 9-4 North Carolina St.
