With approx 4 weeks to plan...

bama oc named new head coach at Maryland, Im sure he will get started hiring and recruiting, therefore wont be calling the plays in the playoffs.

There is an interesting analysis of our D vs UT in the CCG that would seem to indicate some gradual improvement under Ruffin. Besides certain more technical aspects in terms of how we schemed UT on the field we made some significant personnel changes: Motley, Brown, and Norwood all on the field at the same time with Norwood at safety. 3 LB's with Bolton, Murray, and Kelly and Kelly at his old OLB position. Bledsoe was also lined up outside in the front four on numerous occasions. And, just an observation, but when Deshaun White is in there he looks really good.

I think the closest thing we have seen to Bama's offense is Texas and would be shocked if we don't see the 3 LB formation against them.

Offense: Tempo, we will need Kyler to not be so laid back. Saban has struggled against the Hurry Up No Huddle and we will need to snap the ball around the 20 second clock. Not sure how well this fits Murray, personality.

Defense: Tua will not be 100%, just had surgery. I expect a run heavy, with quality timed passing. A true 4 man front, with 3 LB's. Motley and Brown are not far off from being really good. Norwood is showing better, hustle and playing hard. I don't really like him at safety, to small and not the best tackler but he's showing heart and I haven't seen him take to many plays off. Kelley will need to play a good game. Bookie needs to sit this one out. I think he is a cancer and other players buy into his lack of effort. All hat no cattle.

The biggest issue will be players playing with heart EVERY play. Way to many times this year, I saw 2 or 3 guys, give about 20% at the same time. That's 8-9 against 11.

I know a lot of guys liked Evans when he was playing. It all seemed to start with him and worst yet, none of the coaches rode his ass and it took his farther, to get him to give effort every play. Anyone that wants to know why, OU has sucked so bad on defense? Just go back 4 or 5 years and watch players giving no effort and our coaches leaving them in.

Bookie got benched at West Virginia and that is when the defense started getting some stops. I was not surprised one bit when he was on the sidelines on Saturday. Bookie needs to work on his agility this off season.

Thanks for bringing Evans up as well. You could definitely tell he didn't give it his all on every play. Once his Dad got on his butt, he started playing pretty well that season.

Well we have made many 2nd and 3rd string QB's look absolutely amazing

Has nothing to do with that. And though he is a backup this year, he is not some unknown quantity. There is nothing analogous between Hurts and the guys to whom you refer.

What makes him more dangerous in my eyes is his markedly improved ability to pass the ball to go along with threat he presents with his legs. He will provide more challenges to the defense.

It was a tongue and cheek comment on my part

Call me crazy, but I think that Jalen provides a bigger threat to us than Tua.

I'm not too sure on this V. Saban selected Tua as his starter for a reason. Accuracy in his pass game is what I suspect. Hurt looked damn good against Georgia, perhaps it was his Trevor Knight Bama game. All I know is that for some reason Saban went with Tua. I hope Riley & Ruffin find out the reason. Maybe the D can snagged a key INT.

I agree that Tua is the far better quarterback. I just know how much trouble we have with quarterbacks that mix in the run with the pass. Whoever plays, we'll have our hands full.
