Why exactly can't the softball team practice on their field?

I get that they are doing construction, but what is the rush? Surely they could afford to stop for one practice a week. Or just wait and do the construction in the offseason.

Curious what I'm missing here. What are they in such a rush for? To be ready in time for the season opener next year?
