I guess I just don't get it. Outside and inside? I must being missing something, so school me if I'm wrong.

Don't all the receivers work as one to get open and catch the ball? Yes, we have the blocking assignments, but the major jobs for both inside and outside receivers are to get open.

Maybe I'm way off here, but I don't see an offensive guard coach with a separate offensive tackle coach and I think that's just as important.

Anyways, something to discuss or cuss...............LOL

Well, I hear ya loud and clear...

Who knows why is what anymore?

Holy crap...I've come to put a lot of the tedious details on personal ignore...therefore I won't have to justify or castigate all the shit going on in the world...

It's a proven coping mechanism, that and Crown Royal.

Yea what a waste of money. Everyone knows OU should have two qb coaches or another defensive coach.

There is a pretty easy answer for this. In the NCAA, you're allowed nine assistant coaches and one head coach totalling ten guys. You try to balance the coaches between offense and defense for game days. You need the same number of guys for two purposes on game days. Eyes in the press box and on the sidelines instructions to players.

When it comes to specific instructions on the sidelines, Bob doesn't spend much specific time with offensive guys. He has great input into defensive technique. So Bob makes five defensive coaches. That leaves five for the offense.

No small part of Boulware's duties are on the special teams duty. So you have with this paradigm, four full time O guys, four full time D guys. Then Bob obviously has head coaching duties and part time defensive duties. Boulware with part time offensive duties and considerable special teams duties.

If you're going to have five on offense, including Boulware, then you have to have four other guys split however you choose. Historically, OU has had a quarterback coach, a RB coach, a receivers coach, and two OLine coaches. But Bedenbaugh likes to coach the OLine by himself. Some OLine guys are just that way. With Boulware last year, they made him tight ends coach and I'm sure there were times he helped with the tackles when watching in practice. But now, the tight ends are just inside receivers.

So the inside receivers coach coaches tight ends and slot guys. And Bill coaches the five tackle to tackle, by himself.

And I suspect Cale will have occasional input also for the RB's. I hear he's done that before.

It is just a choice as to how to spread your coaches out to get the most out of them. There are some position groups where it is easier to handle a larger group. The OL and DL are two position groups where it makes sense. The rest is just preference. QB is a spot where the OC is the logical choice as he also has the whole offense to work with. RB is one that makes sense as well. That leaves the WRs. You have inside guys, outside guys and the tight ends. I sure see some logic in splitting up the WRs and TEs into two coaching groups.

It is just what is logical and makes sense at the time.

oSu fans has absolutely no room to talk trash about OU. What is the series record? What is the number of national championships each team has? Conference titles?

After last season's debacle with WRs it's probably good to see the extra attention being paid to that area. I'm much more concerned about the defense. Coaches are going back to a four man front. Does this mean another season of learning for the defensive line and backers. Hope not. What I'm really hoping for in 2015 is for the team to get better as the season progresses and to finish with a bowl win.

That's a great point but if it's all the same to you I'll keep talking trash anyway.
