I have reservations about Diaco. Maybe those reservations are unfounded, but his time at UConn was cringe worthy.

To me it is simple: the new defensive coordinator should have a coaching staff he has picked. This would lend itself to a more efficient transition and allow the defensive coaching staff to have confidence going forward (i.e. no forced combinations).

Amen to this! You want a cohesive group? Let Grinch pick his staff then he holds all the cards, good or bad.

YES, YES, YES. Let there be no excuses! Give Grinch his “team and staff” ample time but don’t burden him babying guys like Ruffin, Cook, etc. Don’t do another Mike Stoop extra year deal with these guys. That just prolongs the resurgence another season.

Roy Manning keeps getting thrown out

I wouldn’t be surprised if Grinch has his way. Manning is another ex-Washington State coach that was there with Grinch. Really, I’d like to see less old buddy hires but that’s the way it’s always been.

I’ve heard he’s (Roy manning) getting offered and he plans on taking the position. I’ve beeb hearing about a really good db coach getting interviewed too.

DL needs a ton of work and improvement. The scheme was a big flop and the personnel out there looked like mummies coming at the offensive lines on other side. Just mindless bum rushes that went nowhere.

Was Frank Alexander our last 5 star d-lineman? Can’t remember anyone else which is sad. We need power guys who can get on the QB often. That is the Sooners #1 need. Just a bunch of short term role players. Perkins to me may be able to excel with Grinch.

Lets hope Michael Thompson makes a full recovery from his knee injury. He was a guy that was suppose to see a lot of playing time as a true freshman.

Perkins will. If he can do what he was doing as a true freshman with bad schemes, there’s no doubt in my mind he will be much better next year.

Since Thibs joining the staff, we are now littered with 4-star DEs.
He's still only yanked a couple of 3-star DTs. Are we just trying to get DEs and bulk them up? I don't know.
I would think If Thibs is retained, and keeps the DL title and responsibility, that Grinch as overall "boss" of the D he is and would make I known for each position coach how he wants it played by the players.

Looks like it is Odom.

I like the hire for at least one good reason. Odom is another coach that was at Washington State with Grinch. What this means, I’m hoping, is that Grinch may actually have authority to select his own staff for all intensive purposes.

Now the attention turns squarely on the DL coaching. Grinch will take care of DB’s (his bread n butter). Spring practices are going to be very competitive as he begins the retooling. Hope the Grinch effects are seen immediately.

Intents and purposes? I guess intensive purpose could be a thing too. Hahaha
