I am wanting a good all around 12 gauge for duck, pheasant, dove hunting. I really want the Benelli Super black eagle II but I don't like the price. I'm wanting to stay around $800-$1200. I've heard great things about the Remington Versa Max and that is what I'm leaning towards buying.

Anybody here have one of these guns and how do you like it? Is there something else out there that is better in this price range for an all around shotgun?

Also, has anybody seen or own those pocket pistols I call them the North American Arms .22 magnum I believe is what they are. I'm wanting to purchase a pistol that I can literally carry in my front pocket or in shorts in the summer time without shooting myself HA! These NAM pistols are hard to find and gun dealers can't keep them in stock they are selling so well. Or is there anything else out there like this that anyone would recommend?

Thanks in advance.

All I can offer up is I have a Chinese made H&R 'Pardner' 12 gauge.
Pretty cheap clone of a Remington 870, but just as durable and dependable.
It's a no nonsense home defense thing that you load up five rounds of 00 Buck ammo and hope you never have to use it.
A lot of hazmat cleaning will be involved.

Also, the only pocket pistols that I can be pretentious about are the five shot Ruger LCR 38 Special that I carry in the roof console of the truck.
Hammerless...excellent last chance defense in case something goes down on the road. (with a full speed loader at the ready)
The other is a very small Taurus PT-22, 22 long rifle semi-auto.
I like this one in that it was very modestly priced...150 bucks.
Yet it is dependable, and depending on the situation is ideal for self defense as a last resort weapon.

There are so many choices these days.
If money were no object I'd have the ATF visiting me regularly repeatedly asking me..."Why do you need 500 firearms?"

They're anal like that.

A good shotgun will cost you over &1000. I recommend an over/under. I have a 12ga Browning and an original Winchester 20ga. Be sure to get 3" chamber. They Both are excellent. Weatherby Orion is also a good shotgun.

The NAA 22 mag is an awesome conceal gun. Get it in stainless steel and with the folding handle. It folds up very small and has a clip on the side so you can clip it inside your pant pocket. Only problem is my wife confiscated it and carries it in her purse.

Well, even if it was to your detriment...your wife has exceptional taste.:D

I've got a few shotguns, but I'm not really up to speed on the new ones. I'm partial to my old Remington 1100. I used to own a NAA .22 mag, but I got rid of it. There's just not much to grip, loading is clumsy, and it's a single action only. For a pocket pistol, I've got a Ruger LCP. It's easy to carry in your front pocket in a pocket holster and it doesn't print. Just looks like you're carrying your wallet. Plus the .380 round (I suggest Cor Bon) has quite a bit more punch than a .22mag with an extremely short barrel.

I almost got a LCP.
Funny, the process goes...well, I already have several boxes of 38 special, winner is Ruger LCR.

Bond arms in Granbury, Tx offers many pocket hand cannons that have interchangeable barrels allowing several different ammo combos. All they make are derringers, but two .45 or .410 shotgun shell loads will usually do the trick. All Bond Arms are made in Texas and carry a lifetime warranty.

I'm not big on guns. I have never been able to shoot a hand gun. It's a nervous thing. Shakiest hand in the west. My home defenses are a dog, 12 gauge pump and a single shot 16 gauge.

Here's a cool story. I used to hunt rabbits in Porum, Ok. You could find the cotton tails along the railroad tracks and the Swamp rabbitts along Lake Eufaula. It wasn't unusual to get dozens....You didn't even need a hunting dog.

One time after a great hunt, my brother-in-law stopped at a Turkey Shoot in Broken Arrow. My pick up was loaded with rabbits. My Brother in law decided he would win a turkey. He was shooting against Warren Spann and Billy Russell. Those guy's had some really good shotguns. We're talking the ones with a small pattern.

After he lost he took Warren, Billy and others to my pick up bed and showed them our harvest. They wanted to know exactly where we shot them and even phone numbers were exchanged. We never heard from them again. They won the turkey's, but we got the rascally rabbits.

BTW, it's illegal to hunt along railroad tracks.......Just saying............HA!

I carry one too. It's a great little handgun. No pocket holster for me. Adds a bit too much bulk and it may slow me down further considering I don't keep a round chambered. Printing isn't much of a problem with my body build, and the LaserMax adds more squareness to the shape. Printing isn't illegal in Oklahoma, so I don't worry about it much.

I always keep one chambered, but the reason I like the pocket holster is that it keeps junk out of the barrel. Printing isn't illegal here, either, but I personally like to conceal as well as possible. If I ever (and I hope I don't) have to draw, I want it to be a surprise. Open carry, or printing just tells the bad guy who to shoot first. I only carry the LCP when I have no option to conceal my Glock 19, which isn't very often.

Hey Thanks everybody. Very interesting about the "pocket" guns. I'm wanting one for me and one for he wife. She gets crazy with stuff in her purse so I want her to also have something that can be in her purse but not be reaching in for lip gloss and shoot herself! I mean I need her she is a pretty good cook! ;)

I read an article on the Taurus Model 180 Curve. It's ugly but it appears to be designed specifically for pocket carry. See link below.

If you wanna be safe for the rest of your life,
Never make a pretty gun your carry.
So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly gun to carry with you.

hOUston do you have this gun and how do you like it. I've never seen anything like it. Very intriguing and I'm going to do some research on this. It is weird looking but hopefully nobody will ever see it.

How much did you pay for yours Pryor? They have been hard to find. Gun shops tell me they sell out just about as soon as they get a few.

Fitty If we have more than a couple of guns I guess they consider us to have an arsenal nowadays. I personally, don't think you can own enough. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

So you do like the Ruger LCR 38? Is this small enough to carry in your front pocket without a pocket holster? I've shot shotguns and rifles all my life but pistols not so much. I do have a couple of pistols but they are just to big to conceal carry.

Intriguing Pt. I've ordered a brochure and on their customer list now. Do you own one of these and how do you like it? You're not afraid they will blow up in your face are you? :) That is the one thing about all of these little bitty pocket pistols that I can just imagine blowing up in your face. HA!

S22 and Veritas - So would you recommend the Ruger LCP 38 special for my wife as well for carrying in her purse? 22 you say you carry this in your front pocket with no pocket holster and it feels OK? I don't want to have to wear a holster and would prefer to be able to just put it in my front pocket without fear shooting myself. That is why I was looking at the NAA pocket pistol because it has a clip that would clip on the outside of your pocket and just look like you had a pocket knife or something. With the clip it wouldn't rumble around in your pocket etc.

Browning Maxxus and don't look back.
Poke - Why do you like the Maxxus? Do you like it better than the Browning A5? I wanted the A5 but I just don't like the looks of it. Maybe I go with the Benelli Super Black eagle II? I love that gun but just hate paying that much.

Pryor what do you think about the Benelli Super Black Eagle II and/or the Browning A5?

Yep, I like the LCR quite a bit. Very lightweight.
I think it's about 13 ounces unloaded. Don't have to worry about snagging the hammer either, hammerless as I alluded. (DA only)
I've carried it in the front and back pocket at times. I suppose an ankle carry would be easy with it too.
Yep, guns are a timeless form of currency too. There will always be a market.
I don't sell them to strangers though. Not nowadays.
I generally sell them on consignment through my dealer so he can do the background check on the buyer.

I'm not an animal.

Rings, I do not own a Curve 180. I read an article on the Curve and was most intrigued with the design. It appears if someone was carrying the Curve in a pocket, the silhouette of the Curve would diminish any printing concerns. In addition, the light and laser that is built right into the frame is a plus.

The .38 special is the LCR, and yes, I would recommend that or the S&W airweight for your wife. Just a little less to be confused about with a revolver.

I like that kind of poetry...it's like...freedom.

I've got a real ugly but lethal.
It's a PX 4-Storm by Beretta. Chambered in 40 cal. S&W.

It's homely, kind of like a A-10 Warthog, if you will. :D

Rings, when walking, such as going to the store, I carry the LCP in my jeans back pocket opposite my wallet. Feels completely natural. The only time I carry it in front pocket is sitting down, like in a restaurant. The best thing to do is to visit a local dealer and get the feel of it to see if you like it.

They're of the utmost quality. Current federal laws prevent me from owning such items... but I have fired several of them that my brother owns. I'd have one without hesitation if I wouldn't be breaking the law. For what they are, I'd put them against any other of its kind.

Serious question; What calibers did you fire and did you have any trouble holding on? I like the looks of them, but it appears to me that you could only get about a two finger grip, which seems marginal with what I would anticipate being a pretty heavy recoil. Am I wrong?

Oh snap! I like it.
Good video. I'd have liked to seen the 000 buck pattern a bit further out. Looks like a really cool gun, but I am not sure of it's effectiveness as a defense weapon. Homie needs to go down.

As a side note, there is a lot of debate whether it is legal to carry a shotgun under 18" long in Oklahoma. The SDA definitely prohibits the convicted felon from carrying one, but doesn't specifically mention non-felons. The law is vague.

I fired the .45 and the .357 mostly, and three .410 rounds. It is a hand cannon no doubt, yet I didn't notice that much difference in it and shooting a .44 special. My brother's. 45 auto has more recoil IMO.

Being that I'm not a "non-felon," the law that says I can't own or be in possession of a firearm applies to me. I do have the right to have a muzzle loader though... o_O

The barrels are made to accept both a .410 or .45 cartridge and are legal in all states other than commie controlled California and Massachusetts.

I have no doubt that "Homie" would go down if shot with one of these. :D
