Wheaton's gone to Alabama

Not having a RB is concerning, but Wheaton is overrated. That's two years that OU lost a back to Bama. If Brooks and Stephenson decide to go pro, (I know Brooks says he's returning) the RB room is thin. Bringing in All-pro Demarco Murray hasn't panned out the way Riley thought it would.

More than anything, this just confirms where we stand in the CFB hierarchy. Losing two five stars in a week confirms that the true pecking order is tiered and we're not in the top one with Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State. We're grouped in there with Notre Dame, Georgia, etc. It's not bad but as OU fans we've traditionally expected better. It is what it is.

I agree with what you are saying and add it is nice to be in the dance...not many are. I think Foster was always going to a&m because he is a legacy kid; it didn't hurt the Aggies had a good year. Wheaton stings for many reasons. OU has good starting pitchers and some nice bullpen pieces...but it appears we don't have a closer.

Our problem is that the backs we have are plenty good enough to win in the Big 12 with Riley's offensive creativity. What they aren't is difference makers on the biggest stage. I remember LSU, before the playoff game last year, saying Brooks would be nothing more than a second team back in their conference and then they proved that assertion overwhelmingly. That said, it remains to be seen if Wheaton is truly a difference maker or just someone that Saban didn't want to see on another team.

I think Wheaton is the real deal if Saban recruited him.....and not to keep him from another team.
This happened back in the days of 45 player recruiting limits, but no longer.

Wheaton is not great, all he has is speed. He does nothave great hands, and unable to break many arm tackles. I have scouted him for 2 years now, as they are in our district, which is a soft 6A district. Only time will tell, but I think he will be in the transfer portal in a couple of years.

To watch him as much as you have, he seems to have a big image on paper only. Thanks for the perspective.

coe, with all due respect, I'll go with Alabama's coaches on this one......but I hope, like you, he's average at best at Alabama.
His 4-5 videos do not reveal any weaknesses.

I will say nothing negative about his abilities nor Alabama's recruitment of him because then I'd be a sour grapes hypoccrite.
