OU will not get top tier "SEC" type depth of talent until something changes.. The things that I can think of is either move to the $EC or Big 10+2. That or big wins in big national match ups I believe.. We won't be able to win the big match ups with out top tier talent; therein lies the problem..

I think our coaching problems for the most part have been resolved. I think the OU's and Oregons of the world are in the same type boat. We will recruit well enough and demand upper level talent, but will be a notch below that the big boys are getting. The top level talent is goi to want to play in the $EC and most of that talent is in those states. Texas used to help us close that gap recruiting, that state produces more of a Big Xll type talent because of the 7 on 7 type of style they play... Then there are the Texas kids who would fit the $EC type mold and those kids are starting to go to those schools. A&M hasn't done much, but they have recruited well using this as an advantage, as has LSU. I say that to say every 3-4 years we will be able to make a run at it, but be a bridesmaid and never the bride because we don't have the talent in the Lines that's required.

I'm not a fire Stoops guy, in not an SEC Is better guy, I just look at over the last several years the trend of whose winning National Championships and whose always getting beat. OU, Oregon were just the 1st two to come to mind. When those teams who have spread offenses play big time DLines and Big time Olines whose goal is to run the ball and stop the run, the spread teams never have much success. To play Devils advocate I know USC, FSU, TOSU have all recruited really well. They are pro style offenses and fully dominate the recruiting in their fertile grounds. Just been thinking what to we need to do to be like that.. Win big games? Recruit better talent? Dominate Texas again? Change conferences? We are a damn good program and I'm not bitching on where we are as a program, just wondering how we get over that hump?
