Besides college football or the typical TV sports (basketball, pro football, baseball, soccer), what other hobbies do you have or participate in?

Myself, though I don't get to play much now, I like darts. Started playing darts on the weekends at my favorite little bar down the road.

I've also always been a fan of tennis. I played a lot when I was younger and can appreciate the skill involved. My grandmother and mom always drug me out to these events when we lived in Edmond where some semi-pro or former pro would give lessons. Being a naturally lefty I had a killer backhand.

How about you?

College football....and OU football.
MLB baseball.....and the Yankees.
UConn womens basketball.....outside of that, I have little interest in mens college basketball and I can't watch any NBA ball.
Chess.....on my computer....my last game against a person was in 1993.
Darts.
Working out at the gym.
Walking....in good weather.
Annual trip to Gettysburg.....going again in April.
Good movies.....no special effects, no fantasy stuff (I prefer movies like Shawshank, Good Will Hunting, Godfather, Open Range, Private Ryan, Papillon, Bourne movies, Enough Said, Homeland series, The Americans series, Band of Brothers series, The Pacific series, Boardwalk Empire series, etc).

I would have to say playing tennis, watching movies and going to concerts are my hobbies.

In the spring, summer and fall, I play tennis at least 3-4 times a week (All doubles. Singles is too hard on the knees and this 59 year-old body). I used to play golf about twice a week, but a few years ago, I strained some ligaments in my elbow working on a project at home and had to take off for a few months. When I went back to playing, it was like I had never played golf before. I lost my confidence in my swing, took lessons, but never could get back to where I was playing before. I was around a 11 handicap before I hurt my elbow. Anyway, I had been playing some tennis and decided to devote more time to that sport and really like the workout I was getting. I only played golf about six times last year and although I would like to play more, I'll wait until I retire for that.

CT, I really fell in love with darts about 2 years ago myself, granted by the end of the night I'd be a little to tipsy to be too accurate.

Anyway, every place around here is plastic tip (which I prefer) and there some pretty serious dart players around here. One guy about my age was ranked #18 in the nation.

Did you play steel tip or plastic? Every join the ADA or anything like that?

I like to play golf with a fivesome, a foursome, a threesome, a twosome or alone. I get just about the same pleasure whether I play with a person, group or by myself. I am competitive but I don't let it consume me. I play for the enjoyment of the game. I am a 17 handicapper that used to be a 12, but I can enjoy playing with a 5 or 24. I have played 137 difference courses all over and my bucket list number is 150. I like golf but I don't love it, so if I make it.....great.....if not, I tried. I may have a more difficult time since I am retiring soon and won't have the opportunities to play as many courses anymore. But that's okay.

Besides golf, I look forward to working in the yard and volunteering at one of the hospitals. I worked at Baptist Hospital in OKC l for three years during my college days. Best thing I ever did. I've never ridden a motorcycle, rode a horse, drove drunk, taken any drugs, or messed around with guns. I worked in ER for two of the three years, You see a lot of stuff in the emergency room between 11 pm and 7 am. When you are 18 - 20 years old, its educational.

I don't look down or anyone for living their life the way they want, so don't think I have a negative opinion about what others enjoy and makes them happy because of what I've never done.

Usually steel tipped, but I own a magnetic board that gets the job done.
I got into darts around 1980.....a really pretty girl at my friend's lake house near Willis Texas tutored me one day....we played a game of "20" (that's what I call it....you have to score three times of 20,18, 15, 16, 17, 19, then three bulls eyes).
Anyway, she told me how to position myself to throw (by leaning into each throw with my right leg forward) and to visualize the bulls eye as the bottom of a well when aiming for it....and to hold my breath when throwing, which was hard to do while standing next to her....I hyperventilated and almost farted.

College football: OU, Army, and whoever's playing Texas
NBA: Knicks (yeah, I know) and OKC
CBB: Same as CFB
MLB: Atlanta and, to a lesser degree, the Yankees
NFL: Largely indifferent
NHL: Completely indifferent

I play golf to a handicap that varies between 8 and 10. I played tennis (singles) until I was in my late 40s.

I used to run (a lot) until a got a stress fracture in my hip. Hip replacement is a matter of when, not if, at this point.

Besides OU Football, and other sports (NFL - Cowboys/Rams MLB - Braves NBA - Spurs), I really enjoy watching soccer, Barclay's Premiere League (Man U) and watching in person high school football on Friday nights in the fall.

I love to cook, and I love to bbq outdoors - own a couple of Webers, and one Pit Barrel. I will smoke anything (easy, not what I meant - if you know bbq, then you know what smoking a fatty means).

I love to travel, more specifically I love to travel to Las Vegas - usually go 4 times per year, every 90 days - wanna see madness, go during March Madness, it'll drive you nuts...

I am a budding audiophile - recently purchased my first ever tube amplifier - waiting on a pair of matched speakers to arrive (Polk Reference 70s) to hear the sound...am considering building a pair of Horn speakers and drivers, as well as building my own Bottlehead tube amplifier, possibly for headphones...love to listen to music, all kinds except opera.

I am an avid reader, love my kindle...like watching movies/series - recently purchased a Midnight Box by Matricom, I'm enjoying watching movies still in theaters on my tv, or even some not out yet...I'll be glad to Iearn more so I can cancel directv and cable forever.

Oh yeah - I'm a big fan of nipples. On women. I'm a big supporter. Once you've seen a pair of nipples on a woman, you kind of want to see all of them.

I really love fireworks.................

I'm a big fan of MMA. In fact, if there's an MMA event or a college football game, unless it's the Sooners, I'm watching MMA.

Cars.

Rods, Custom, Classic, & Muscle. I'm around them almost daily. I really enjoy the nostalgia, performance, mechanical function design & engineering of cars.

As far as Rods, I like the 30-34 era of trucks. When it comes to the Classics, I have a love for the early to mid 60's.But when talking about performance, anything since 2010. Detroit is pumping out some unbelievable performance machines these days. It's rival the era of the 60's through early 70's Muscle Car.

I would bore most of you. I like sports, although I don't play any more. I tend to watch football, basketball, softball, gymnastics, pro baseball (the only pro sport that I watch), and some soccer.

I love music. I tend to listen to classical, some rock, a lot of blues, swing, folk, some country, jazz, and Broadway.

I collect movies, mostly the classics. I have DVDs of over two hundred movies, most from earlier than 1965. I'm still collecting.

I love to read about scientific advances. The Large Hadron Supercollider fascinates me. I bought Warped Passages and Knocking on Heaven's Door, two books by Dr. Lisa Randall, one of the leading physicists in the world whose theories are on the cutting edge. A Harvard Professor, she has also written a short symphony that was performed by the NY Philharmonic. The advances in particle physics are worth learning about. She is a Bob Dylan fan and starts her book chapters with song lyrics quite often, hence the title, Knocking on Heaven's Door, a song by Dylan.

I don't travel much any more. But, I did a lot of that, and I loved learning about new cultures.

Oh, and I am a huge Castle fan, as well as Bones.

Great way to bring the sound of music into your life. I dont own any tube gear but what I have heard is very pleasing to the ears. But beware as it is a sickness that needs needs to fed on a regular basis, as soon you will find yourself scouring the local want ads and thrift shops to find more gear and it becomes a vicious circle(but it sure sounds good). I started out about 8 years ago to bring the music back as I had let life interfere and I had gotten rid of all my equipment( by the urging of SWMBO as it didnt fit the decor), luckily I kept most of my vinyl so I had something to listen to. A couple of years ago I became satisfied with the sound and dont worry about accumulating anymore gear, but I still look for a good bargain if its out there. I highly recommend a music forum known as AudioKarma for education and entertainment, it has some great people posting there-kinda like SoonerScoop. Listening to the music helps fill my days when not at work as physical limitations put the kibosh on most activities.

I also agree on the last part as well

Translation for the whippersnappers; SWMBO=She Who Must Be Obeyed. FWIW, up until now, I've only seen that acronym on woodworking forums.

She Who Must Be Obeyed...that's awesome...I think the bug has already bitten lol. I had a good friend years ago who was a serious audiophile, and we enjoyed mostly the same music (Rush, Pink Floyd, The Who, etc) and he would occasionally have me over to his listening room he had custom built when he built his house...amazing. I heard more sounds on Dark Side of the Moon than I have ever heard with any other system...once my speakers arrive, I'm planning on listening to DSOM and The Wall, just for the experience...his listening room was incredible - his sense of hearing was so acute, he could hear when the refrigerator in the kitchen upstairs would click on through the electricity, so he had his room entirely re-wired and set on a different electric system separate from the rest of the house...
Thanks for audio karma, I will check it out - I do spend time on the Bottlehead DIY Audio site. I've become addicted to searching craigslist for tube related amps, preamps, and vintage large horn speakers and drivers. Thankfully I am without a SWMBO so I don't have that added stress.

Well, I like playing Jimi Hendrix guitar stuff on acid.

I like fishing with dynamite. It enhances my yield of fish in a given time.

I like shooting squirrels with a 12 gauge shotgun loaded with 00 BUCK. It's so cool to watch four legs fall to the ground under a pink mist.

Those are the other things that I like.
