All of the eyeball emoji's. Right here down in front, please.
Wouldn't it be cool if SCOOPHD raged with Kliff Kingsbury in uptown Dallas tonight? Might not make kickoff. That'd be okay for Kliff. He's probably used to a clear(ish) schedule during the first week of December; get it? Cause his teams never qualify to play in the Big 12 Championship? *Laugh track*
OU-Texas Part II. Isn't it a little disappointing no one coined a unique phrase we could refer to this weeks game? Or even like a hashtag. There certainly hasn't been any drama around the game. Nope. Not even a little bit.
I for one have really enjoyed the back-and-forth banter between the two schools. It's what a rivalry should be about. Particularly if it's (arguably) the biggest match-up in the history of the two schools.
What needs to happen for Oklahoma to win?
This can't happen.
Or this.
I've said it once. I'll say it again. Oklahoma bottom-out (for the first time) in it's last trip to Dallas.
'We just weren't ready to play' ... Um, excuse me. That's more offensive than any kind of decision that could come out of the Irving Big 12 offices.
As I said in the Staff Picks, it's hard for me to pick Texas this weekend. Certainly seems like everything is lining up for an Oklahoma victory, BUT that's exactly what gives me reason to #pause. It doesn't make sense to me, either.
Oklahoma played it's worst game of the season in Dallas. There were turnovers. Ugly turnovers.
And still had a fighting (is that what we call it?) chance to win the ballgame. Just one (!) defensive stop short.
Something tells me Oklahoma will be able to find a few stops. Why? Because that's what they normally do in this conference. A possible fourth straight Big 12 Championship is an incredible number. Very likely it's taken foregranted by the fanbase. Listen, I get it. You want a national championship. Can't play for one of those without a conference crown in tow.
Some items that caught my attention this week:
* Might want to keep this Lincoln Riley guy around for a little longer:
* I don't know what it says about me but this song just came on while I'm in the middle of this. Strange. Haven't heard it in years. Very high school Eddie.
* I have to get something off my chest. No, not my man boobs. This whole Southwest Airlines kerfuffle.
Say it with me. THIS. LADY. IS. AN. IDIOT. Talk about being triggered? I'm there. I'm fully t-r-i-g-g-e-r-e-d. Ma'am, how about you don't name your child ABDCE? That probably would have been a good starting point in giving your child a chance to excel in this world.
The only question left to ask? What does this kid change her name to when she turns 18? The worst stripper name that you could think of would probably be a good start. And for the record I'm thinking something like Paradise.
America. Get it together. FFS.
* Thought the Texas Tech hire was interesting. I suppose Matt Wells was Kirby Hocutt's 'guy' from the jump. Am I crazy to think they should have given Kliff another year? Perhaps.
I know some circles were unhappy with how the Alan Bowman injury was handled.
I also know there was a serious push by big time boosters to make Dana Holgorsen the next head coach in Lubbock. He was interested. Only problem was the man doing the hiring wasn't so much.
Perhaps the best question Texas Tech should ask itself before next season pertains to what do they want to be as a program? It's my opinion Tech should be a contend for a conference (mayyyyybe 10 win season) every four or five years. That's not too much to ask right? Is that even realistic?
I do think Matt Wells is a good football coach. Should be interesting to watch how it plays out.
* Los Angeles Kliff Kinsbury could end up being my favorite form of Kliff Kingsbury.
* Oh no. It's happening, again. OU's assistant coaches are being talked about for other jobs. Guess what? That's a good thing. Means they are doing something right.
It was probably bound to happen at some point. Still 'tough' (I guess?) to see. Give that mans all the moneys.
* Any Ticket P1's in the house? Scoops Callahan was back on the beat in Arlington last night. I'd love to meet my journalism hero if he stays around for another game this week.
* Let's pick the conference championship games against the spread:
Pac-12: Washington -5.5
Big Ten: Northwestern +14.5
SEC: Alabama -13.5
Big 12: Oklahoma -8
AAC: Memphis +3
ACC: Pittsburgh +27 (you take 27 in a championship every time you can)
Mountain West: Boise State pick'em
Lock of the Week: Cal +3
* This OU/Texas look will never -- I MEAN NEVER -- be topped.
Simply the best.
Okay well that'll do it. Maybe I'll see a few of you all in the D this weekend. Wait. What?
Oh and I am very shameless. Thank you for asking.
Also, sup Ketch.
