Frozen tundra Merica, dammit
Unfortunately the Goliath storm torrential rain and ferocious winds put a big 'damper' on our plans & we had to cut our visit to Tulsa short, we had a great time with the folks and made it back to home & hearth about 8 tonight. The minor inconveniences we sustained PALE in comparison to the thousands of folks across the Midwest who lost homes and/or lives due to the floods in the region or the freak snowstorms in Texsa, etc.

Coming home to a foot of snow & single digits and a nice warm house beats trying to catch the bowl games in some shelter not knowing how soon FEMA or your insurance will take care of you in the middle of winter. Best wishes to you all for a Happier New Year !

Happy New Year to you too my friend. Sorry the weather kept us from connecting, but glad you made it back safe and sound.

Gary, was hoping to get to see ya yesterday, but Fitty told me you had to get back. Glad your home safe and sound. Fitty and I have a big tailgate planned. Lots of food and good laughs then on to watching our Sooners avenge last year's loss. Btw no pizza this time.

Yeah I was thinking of "My how times have changed" compared to last season & how everything fell into place after our loss to the steers. The pizza was good last year but everyone in Muskogee had to have one at the same time as us. (I don't think a Prime Rib roast could have salvaged that abortive attempt of ours last year).
As long as we are standing tall this time tomorrow night, I'll go hungry until after the game !

I think we will all be pleasantly suprised at this year's out come. Looking forward to the game for sure.

K2c Fitty was full I'm sure however he most of the time cuts it close to game time. Lol

Oh, BTW iasooner...I found your thumb right after you left. One of the cats had it and I had to wrestle it away from that bastard.

Anyway, you all are wondering, what the hell is he talking about?
Well, Gary, his lovely wife and I were shooting guns off of the famed west porch. At any rate, Garwood shot his thumb off...so I told Stubby just don't bleed out and I'll find it and send it him to him.
He could uh, have it bronzed or something.

That's it.
We shot guns, iasooner can't hitchhike anymore...end of story.

I was back in Tulsa for Christmas as well. We drove up on Wednesday. I played golf at Forest Ridge on Thursday and it was actually pretty nice. We were going to stay until Monday but we ended up leaving around 9am Sunday to try to beat the weather. That was nerve wrecking as hell. Winds had to be around 40mph crosswinds going down the turnpike and just pouring like crazy. It took about 6 hours to get to Dallas with all the slow downs and doing 45 because it was raining so hard and trying to keep the car on the road. All in all, ended up being about an 11 hour drive back here to Houston. I feel for you on the travel plans and seeing all the devastation while traveling. It was absolutely insane.

Bwaaaaa !! For the record I have biggo skillet mitts for a diminutive old guy and held my left thumb too high on the grip of the tiny girl gun my wife shot & let the firing pin smack the skin (twice) and I WAS DRIVING... I'm "sans-band aid" now and recovering from the 8 hour drive back. Thankfully She didn't or our fun would have taken a far different turn... I am proud to have hit the 'spinner' after not too many attempts with the semi-auto rifle.

Yep, my previous tale was pretty much fiction...for those of you gullible as hell.

No, that was fun...plus, Ms. iasooner was a virgin. She'd never shot a gun before.
So I was just elated that I was with Gary when she broke cherry on that. (my goodness I'm a cad)

Anyway, despite the cold temps, a good time had by all.:D

When I go to Tulsa, I have my list of food requirements when I'm in town; Taco Bueno, Hideaway Pizza and Coney Islander. I only got to have Coney Islander this trip, I was a bit bummed about that.

No K we drove into the beginning of the rain from KC on Saturday but still made it 485 miles to Miama in just under 8 hours. As soon as we got settled in for supper the wind started and we bailed on the attempt to go to Tulsa until Tuesday. We just stayed there and had a really mellow visit with the folks which is cool at this stage in our lives. The drive back today was sunny until we ran into increasing clouds close to Iowa (its the impending doom of the Hawkeyes IF history remains the same)

Dammit (the weather) If that many 'hall o famer' posters were in town, knew it and had the time, what a party we could have had !! I threw down tres Islanders, loaded and far too many scoops of Braum's and waffle cones. Got home with 3 half gallons of the real Nogg..

Ohhh, my bad, i gotcha. I was there over Christmas and the weather got very bad very quickly. We saw that it was going to start sleeting and icing late on the 27th and through the 28th so we got the heck out. When we finally got home, I slept for about 13 hours straight because my nerves were fried.

I may actually be moving back to Tulsa. I had 3 job interviews while I was in town. Had one hell of a golf trip planned until the weather impeded. I was really looking forward to finally playing The Patriot.

Good for you.
Glad you found some Nog.

I didn't hold much hope for that from Braums anyway.

LOL, I had 4 loaded myself. I didn't hit up Braums, but then again I never really do. I'm not much of an ice cream guy.

Yeah after the stop @ Big Red (now Bedlam Sports) on Memorial we cruised north past where I lived while in HS and she when we were first engaged, saw the old house and what used to be Casa Bonita (both of which are completely trashed) we hit the Braum's @ about 19th & Sheridan. They had Double Dippers for 99 cents of egg nogg ice cream or pumpkin. The closest thing up here would be soft-serve & cost 4 bucks or more.

Gary, is this what happened? Go to about the 1:10 mark.

My favorite gun is a "girl gun". Sig Sauer P238 (380 Auto). Awesome.
