7:00 PM Friday, FOX Sports SW UVerse 754 in Dallas. This is the season opener for what might be an entertaining season.

This may be a bit different type team, more reminiscent of 2005 when we had Maria and Dionnah lead us to the Big Twelve tournament title with three straight upsets over the #13, #8, and #2 teams in the nation. We are a bit small, having lost Vivi and Maddie.

We won our exhibition game (only one) against Northeastern State, 119-45. You may remember that Shaina Pellington was the Freshman of the Year last year in the Big Twelve. She was fast, but nearly all of her points were off of fast break points as she hit layup after layup. Nobody could stop her. Well, they certainly won't stop her this year. After attempting only three three-point shots last year, she was 5 for 7 from three in the exhibition game, finishing with 33 points in 21 minutes. I thought it was 34 last night, but the posted box says 33. She learned to shoot the three. You can't stop both.

Super Freshman Madi Williams hit a two and a three-pointer in the first couple of minutes, got into foul trouble, and didn't contribute after that. She has talent. Freshmen, Tatum Veitenheimer and Jesse Murcer shared time at point guard, both indicating that they are ball hawks. We forced 34 turnovers.

It was the spot shooting freshman gunner from Kansas that got the attention. Taylor Robertson was 7 of 12 from three for 21 points.

This is an interesting team. Athletic, quick, not all that tall, and gunners. We may have difficulty with big teams. But, we may run them to death. The size is in the freshmen who are a bit raw, Nydia Lampkin and Aspen Williston. How fast will we go? Well, how fast will we grow?

OU won opener, 90-83.

33 Shaina Pellington Soph (9 boards, too)
24 Taylor Robertson, FR, (8 of 14 from three)
15 Madison Williams, FR (had 15 boards as well)
11 Tatum Veitenheimer, FR, also had 5 steals.

Great young talent on this team. Mistake prone at this point. Got tired at the end because they were missing two guards (Penzo and Murcer out with injuries, back next game). The fast pace wore them out, and W. Ky almost came back as we slept.

This will be a fun team.
