Well Riley sticks w/ little Stoops

No surprise here. As I said, Riley will not fire Stoops for whatever reason. The administration probably won't let him

Regents will have to step in eventually. Another showing like the last 2 weeks and you simply demote the guy. Possibly would lead to bad vibes, but the team won't last in quicksand. Then again....he may leave if demoted.

I said after the Baylor game that it is time, past time for Mike to go but I just have a feeling that Lincoln feels he owes Bob so it won't happen anytime soon. That is only speculation on my part as I do not know what Riley feels or thinks but it just kinda would make sense to me that would be the reason why Mike stays. And with Bobs finger still in the OU pie nobody else would be on board with getting rid of Mike either. A pretty sad situation, Bob brought OU football back only to leave it with a monkey on its back.

A couple of years ago didn't the reagents supposedly want Mike gone, but Bob stepped up and protected his brother?? At least that was some word on the pay board here and there. If so, then good ole Bob may not have the pull anymore to protect Mikey anymore. That is, unless the situation this season improves dramatically!!!
My Rumor Mill says that Bob requested 'Another Year' for Mike, when he resigned...

He either doesn't have the balls, or the authority, or feels too appreciative to Bob. But whatever it is, Riley keeps Mike Stoops and he's ours to kick around for the balance of the year.

Kicking I will do.

WNAS, did Riley actually come out in a statement or mention his support for Mike during his presser today? If so that alone is the kiss of death for MS, IMO.

If the D has another bad game, which they will, then how bad would it have to get to fire MS? I just envision the entire D just going through the motions , even just lying on the field in revolt, and MS in the booth laughing his ass off while giving everyone the finger.

If they continue to lose in the same fashion, the pressure will mount like Riley has NEVER experienced. Stoops will not last.

Yes. Basically started the presser w/ MS isn't going anywhere.

Wow. It's really bad when a head coach ever has to begin a presser like that. That can only mean the university had a ton of negative calls, messages, etc. about Mike Stoops. When the donors start complaining the Board of Regents will step in and Mike will be gone unless Riley and Joe take care of this business first, which should be the way it happens.

I think that the fan pressure will take care of MS at the end of the season.

BUT... i don't think he will be fired during the season. Looks to disruptive.

Just my thoughts. (And i have been known to be wrong before.)

I agree. Firing a DC in the middle of the year is bad for the program. But I wouldn't be opposed to giving DC position to one of the other coaches even if it was splitting the duties......like someone else handling the defensive calls.

To be honest, I don't see any other way Riley would play this even if he were thinking of replacing Mike at the end of the season. You know he is NOT going to fire him mid-season. So of course he is going to publicly support Mike during the season.

I wonder how this would play with Bob and he and Lincoln's friendship. Would he understand? Would he be pissed? Not sure. Honestly Mike should just take the high road, save everyone some hard feelings, and resign at the end of the season. I guess its hard to let go of all that money

With Mike Stoops = no high caliber recruits. Who would want to play defense for the Sooners with all the negativity that is and will be out there regarding our defensive coordinator. My hell what a mess.

Just because he publicly backs Mike Stoopid doesn't mean there aren't things happening behind the scenes which hopefully will help...

Figuring out a freaking scheme and sticking with it would be a nice start...how about a 4-2-5 with rotation over the top for whoever Thomas is covering since he seems to have forgotten the object is to stop the opposing receiver before he scores...

Riley, no doubt, has been enjoying his position as 'Boy Wonder', 'Golden Boy', 'Fair Haired Lad' or Whatever...He seems smart enough to recognize what's potentially jeopardizing that new found status...IMO, he is hampered by extenuatings, and will act appropriately when time permits...We need to realize that he knows 'The Rest of the Story'...We Don't, Darn it! Until then, we must console ourselves with second guessing and playing What-If...

Yes, Senior Sooner ..... I think that Lincoln is a hungry young man. He wants to win it all.

and i think he is smart enough to know that he must have a solid defense to do that.

I feel certain he knows that MS is not the man.
