UPDATE: 8:42p - Meant to get this note up earlier today but got caught up with a few other things. Oklahoma defensive line coach Diron Reynolds was doing his in-home visit today with Euless (Texas) Trinity Rivals250 defensive tackle Chris Daniels.

I'm expecting him to be the last in-home of the day following earlier visits from Tennessee and Texas.

That's not the end all but it definitely helps as he heads into a weekend with Texas A&M, and I think the Aggies may be doing their in-home tomorrow night.

UPDATE: 2:44p -
It looks like Oklahoma has made a new 2018 offer, Isaiah Humphries of Sachse, Texas.

UPDATE: 11:54a -
I'd mentioned earlier in the week that there was a chance that Oklahoma might bring in Daingerfield, Texas wide receiver Denzel Mims for an official visit but I'm told that door has been closed and he'll stick with Baylor.

UPDATE: 11:37a -
Talked to a source who let me know that Oklahoma defensive backs coach Kerry Cooks will be visiting Rivals250 cornerback commitment Parrish Cobb tomorrow night.

As of right now Cobb plans to visit Baylor this weekend with teammate, and Bears tight end commitment, Kedrick James. However, I continue to get the impression that Oklahoma is confident about the situation and that everyone around Cobb wants him in Norman - if only because they think it's best for him to get away from Waco in college.

Perhaps the visit gets canceled but that seems unlikely, still though he has already chosen Oklahoma over Baylor once before so I think this thing sticks.

It's basically the inverse of the Brandon Bowen situation.

UPDATE: 11:28a -
For all of the good news that seemed to come from Brandon Bowen's visit to Norman, it seems that he let Oklahoma know last night/this morning (not sure on which) that he was going to stick with Baylor.

So this story seems to be done.

UPDATE: 7:59a -
I meant to have a note in on the Erik Swenson situation and Oklahoma visiting him yesterday. I'm told that Bill Bedenbaugh met him and his father at Swenson's high school, Downers Grove (Ill.) South,

The visit went well but I was told that no offer was extended as Oklahoma is still trying to work out where their numbers are and what they want to focus on.

I talked about it in chat a bit yesterday but I get the feeling that Oklahoma sees tackle as a luxury right now, if they can find the right one - see Jauan Williams - they'll happily take him but if they aren't convinced they'll just pass and wait for 2017.

But there is a chance Oklahoma offers and brings Swenson in this weekend, I'm hoping to know more later today.

UPDATE: 7:44a -
OK I've talked with a few more people this morning since writing up some of that Caleb Kelly update and can tell you that both sides are concerned. There are some around Norman that think it's Notre Dame, and from what I gather most around South Bend think it's Oklahoma.

It's the last seven days and things are getting more and more confusing.

ORIGINAL:

***We'll start with a guy we've not talked a lot about in these notes, the Sooners highest-ranked remaining target Caleb Kelly of Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West.

Last night he had his in-home visit with Notre Dame and I've talked to some folks close to the situation and it does sound like the visit went very well but the impression I get from Irish sources is that the same momentum that was created last week wasn't found last night.

I think Mike Stoops did an outstanding job of putting some things to bed during his in-home last Thursday and this week it feels more like he'll walk into a less concerning setting.

Things may still change for Kelly but right now I think Oklahoma has plenty of reasons to be confident with where they stand.

***As I mentioned yesterday Alabama is starting to show some interest in Tulsa McLain running back Joshua Jacobs and today will send their running backs coach, Chris Burns, to see one of the country's fastest rising names.

What this will mean to his recruitment simply has too many variables to know as the Tide will have to elect to offer and he'll then have to decide between a trip to nearby Norman or to Tuscaloosa.

My gut still tells me Oklahoma is going to be tough to beat here but it's far from a certainty.

***I continue to hear that Oklahoma is not going to pursue any quarterbacks, at least with a scholarship at this point in time.

***A name that I had written off but the Sooners went by to see, namely Diron Reynolds and Bob Stoops, on Monday night is New Orleans McDonogh 35 defensive tackle Stephon Taylor. I'm told that in-home visit went pretty well but I still think the Sooners best hope at the position is former Euless (Texas) Trinity Sooners commitment Chris Daniels.

***Finally for those who missed it last night recent Southlake (Texas) Carroll wide receiver offer Zach Farrar enjoyed his in-home with Lincoln Riley and Bob Stoops and will be taking an official visit to Norman this weekend.

If that trip goes through and Oklahoma pushes for him, he'll be theirs.
