With even a decent defense, we beat either one of those teams running away...
Thanks Stoops and Kish!!!

OU has to get better on defense. Either Stoops and Kish both have to go, or at least just get rid of Kish. Get somebody in there that can actually coach the inside linebackers and develop them. It's been an awful long time since we've had a dominant inside linebacker.
We've only had a couple of All-Conference inside LBs at OU under Stoops/Kish - Jordan Evans and Dominique Alexander (both are in the NFL) - but neither fits the description as "dominant" when they played.
You might add 1971, 1977, 1986 and 1987.....perhaps even 1957.'78 '79 '03 '08 '17
all given away.
That only goes so far. You also have to have a competent defensive staff that can use the talent to its maximum on game day. Mike Stoops isn't that guy and it starts with him.OU has to get better on defense. Either Stoops and Kish both have to go, or at least just get rid of Kish. Agree, Field...And, in critiquing the RB, we mustn't leave out the players. Some of them didn't play their usual good game, or rise to the occasion...That's why I mentioned 'Combo of Ingredients'...The makings of 'A Perfect Storm. The operative word in your comments is OVERALL...My finger pointing is more for SPECIFIC Fumbles, from Riley...No doubt, Lessons Were Learned, by ALL...One may criticize Riley for specific play calls or periods of offensive ineptness but when you score 45 points in regulation, 38 of which were generated by the offense on the reigning SEC champion, it's hard to find overall fault with the effort.
This was my bitch during the season. Put the game further out of reach with every opportunity. Save running out the clock for the last 5 or 6 minutes of the game.My main gripe with Riley is taking his foot off the gas when we get a good lead, knowing what our Defense is he should be trying to score every possession.

Fromm was my pick as dawgs x factor, he most certianly was. Kids a stud imoI keep hearing we shut down Ohio st offense we was just lucky jt barret couldn’t throw the ball he missed people wide open and one was in the end zone and threw a terrible pick the defense played good but if he could throw the ball like Fromm that would’ve been a different ball game
I agree in a way too. But the offense had scored enough to win against a run based SEC team. I think we are just so use to OU being able to outscore opponents, that we are now a bit numb to the idea that OUs offense has to make up for the defense.I am a Mike Stoops Basher, of record, but I don't honestly feel that the Rose Bowl Fiasco can be pinned entirely on him. I believe that it was a BAD Combination of Ingredients that led to the loss. IMO, he and Riley have to share the blame for it, and possibly, in disproportionate amounts...with Riley owning the Lion's Share of the Responsibility, and bearing the Brunt of the Burden....
YES, and therein lies the difference...We couldn't stop the run OR the dinky dunk game of the Frosh when we had to AND we didn't go for the jugular in OT
Right On, BR...Sad, but TRUE...I agree in a way too. But the offense had scored enough to win against a run based SEC team. I think we are just so use to OU being able to outscore opponents, that we are now a bit numb to the idea that OUs offense has to make up for the defense.
