Florida run-ruled A&M 8-0 in five innings. I believe they had the same blue behind the plate that we had in game one at Auburn last week, and like that game, the strike zone was extremely tight. It really helped Florida. A&M's pitching would be one of the two weakest in the tournament, and they had a lot of trouble throwing strikes. And Florida is a team that scrutinizes the strike zone. Florida only had four innings at bat as the home team, and won easily.

A&M has a bunch of hackers, who are up there looking to put it in play quickly. Against Florida's elite pitcher, Kelly Barnhill, they swung over and over at pitches that would have been called balls. Impatience. A&M can crush the ball, but they really didn't give themselves a chance.

Hopefully, the zone won't be this tight the whole tournament. But game one goes to the number one seed. And A&M showed why they should never have been seeded higher than OU.

Game two is UCLA and LSU.

When are we supposed to start ?

LSU won 2-1 because basically two plays at the plate. UCLA had a player called out when replay showed she beat the tag on the slide. LSU got a run when their player was clearly out on a tag play, but the catcher had to move into the baseline to catch the ball, but caught it and was waiting to make the tag, but was called safe because of obstruction. Why don't these calls seem to go against SEC teams? Even the SEC, er ESPN crews said they were bad calls.

The evening session starts at 6:00. OU is in game two, which is scheduled for 8:30 CDT. The first game is a Pac 12 matchup: Oregon and Washington. If OU wins, they play the winner Friday night. If they lose, they play the loser Saturday.

I personally have watched my uncle and cousin call plenty of games over the years, it's not a job I would want to have. Win or lose, I refuse to blame the umps unless it's several ridiculous calls. Overall I think they do a good job

Blaming refs is what poor losers do. I have always believe that. I always will. My experiences in life have proven me to be correct.
I agree with this. But pointing out a missed call isn't necessarily bad either. Usually ref blamers are associated with the team that lost, not independent watchers of a game that has no bearing on their favorite team.

I've called several thousand games in my life. Mostly basketball and baseball/softball. I feel more strongly about the officiating having done it, than before I worked hs basketball. I had no idea just how political it is.

Officials understand that to get to a high level.

I couldn' agree more. It is something stupid people do all the time. Easy to umpire if you replay the bang bang calls in slow motion. What I want is one of those televisions that has such high resolution quality that the viewer can with certainty talk about balls being one or two inches off the plate. If I had one of those (like our expert poster) then I too could tell you which teams were getting favorable calls from the umpires. I am a long time Yankee fan. You do know that the only reason they won World Series in 1996, 98, 99, and 2000 was because they got favorable strike zone calls from the umpires. It sure couldn't be because they were that good. I was told about this by frequent poster.

iasooner, yes I do have to agree with your mention of the OU/Oregon game. Those were calls that completely affected the outcome of a game. That is a very rare exception. Mostly I am talking about the people whom complain about the bad calls that go against them but never mention the bad calls that also go against the opposition. An example would have been the OU/Oregon game if the Sooners final field goal had not been blocked and won the game for the Sooners. Then I am sure Oregon fans would have complained about bad calls against Oregon they saw during the game.

The first game of the evening is running long. It's a little after 8 p.m. and they're only headed to B7. So I don't think we're going to start until probably 8:45. Really hoping it doesn't go extra innings. Washington just hit a homer to go up 3-0. If we win, we play the winner tomorrow. If we lose, we play Saturday early.

Washington beats Oregon 3-1. It was 1-0 into the 7th. The Huskies were the visitors. They got a two run homer to go up 3-0, then surrendered two on in B7 to get the tying run up with no outs. For whatever reason, Mike White, Oregon's HC pinch hit for his leading hitter with one out as the tying run. And the girl who hit for her, was hitting .170. Huhhhh??

Her ground out scored the Ducks only run, but made two outs, and they got a grounder to third to end it. Washington was seeded below Oregon, but they have the best starting pitcher of either team.

Oregon usually has a really good team, and they come to OKC and lay an egg. So far, nothing has changed. OU will start about 8:45. That game ended at almost exactly 8:15.

One thing that people don't always remember--all bad calls are not created equal. Example: 1984 OU vs. Texas football. I believe that in the third quarter Sooner punter Mike Winchester went down to a knee to field the snap. The ball should've been given to Texas where his knee touched but they allowed him to kick the ball. However, the bad call was early enough in the game that the Horns had plenty of time to recover.

Contrast that to Keith Stanberry's end zone interception at the end of the game which was disallowed and allowed Texas to kick the tying FG on the subsequent/last play of the game. OU was screwed royally and was left with no time time to make it up. I mention this because every time OU fans bring up the blown calls at the end of the game, UT fans always respond with the Winchester vignette as if the two were equally weighted in determining the final score. The reality is that nothing could be further from the truth.

Similarly, the crap calls at the end of the Oregon game completely changed the outcome in the Ducks' favor leaving OU with no ability to react. Any bad calls against the Ducks earlier in the game are nothing more than a BS smokescreen on the part of Oregon fans to rationalize one of the biggest screw jobs in the history of college football.

You mean the WCWS has started! NO WAY! The next thing you'll be telling me is that man has walked on the moon

Back to being an ass hole again. That headline was written yesterday and was a day 1 thread.
You are nothing more than an arrogant self serving prick. You are so full of yourself. Any dip shit that would accuse Macey Hatfield of being a show off is an idiot. Ron White certainly had you in mind when he said,"you can't fix stupid!
