Now becomes the greatest coach in CBB history not named John Wooden.

One great thing about Duke is they don't make a mockery of the term "student athlete."

As a West Point cadet, I saw him turn a team that was overmatched at every position and make us competitive. I knew he could coach but I never imagined that he would win five NCs and two gold medals.

I saw him win his first game as a head coach and now this. Again, way to go, Coach K!!

Is it okay if I puke?

Hard to play Duke five on eight, but it always seems to work that way. I like Coach K and he deserves the accolades that you suggest. But the bias of the broadcasting crew and the officials sickens me. They should change the name of the NCAA tournament to the Duke Invitational. Their games are always called like they're the home team.

I know--Duke wouldn't even make the tournament if it weren't for biased refs and biased broadcasters.

Daughter a Duke grad and I am also a Coach K fan. I think we are in the minority on this board WP.

Your hyperbole is misused. Kentucky earned the number one seed, but every broadcast before the tournament talked about their having the toughest bracket. I'd agree with that. And I also think that Duke had by far the easiest bracket and said it that night. Turned out to be true.

You're not just the minority on this board. People are sick of how Duke is the favored one in the NCAA men's tournament. Last night, I'm surprised Jim Nance wasn't wearing a blue sweat shirt with a big D on the front. Ball goes out of bounds, "that should be Duke ball."

And he was right, even though they appeared to be the last team to touch the ball.. Funny also that several tight out of bounds calls that went Duke's way: no replay. Bo is over making a big deal about the call and no replay. The fouls in the second half were ridiculous. But I wrote Saturday night that it would be that way. And I was right.

Didn't Nance also say the "fingernail" play should be Wisconsin's ball? Seems to me a fingernail hardly constitutes conclusive evidence. It also refutes the notion that Nance should have worn a blue shirt. The announcers also rightly pointed out that Winston should've been called OB for stepping on the baseline.

IIRC Duke's big men missed more than half the game due to foul trouble. In the first half, Duke was called for four times as many fouls as Wisconsin. It wasn't like the refs didn't protect Kaminsky all night...oh, wait. Kaminsky was never in foul trouble and was able to do pretty much what he wanted while Okafor and Winston constantly were constantly sitting.

The Duke hate is predictable and amusing but nonetheless trite. Duke won in spite of their two "bigs" being on the bench because:

- Duke's guards were "nails" throughout the game.
- Dekker didn't show up
- Wisconsin was unable to consistently play at Duke's pace
- Duke made their FTs

Blaming Duke's win on the refs and the media is weak and nothing more than "sour grapes." It's also a case of (as all sports fans do) seeing what you want to see.

Fire away but I'm now "out" on this particular topic.

The East was clearly the easiest bracket. Unfortunately OU did not take advantage of it. Officiating is horrible, period. It does not just apply to Duke games. The Kentucky-Wisconsin game was awful.

I DID NOT blame the media for the result. But Nance and his chums called the called like they were the Duke broadcast crew. As usual. And I find that offensive. Wisconsin spent the season, as a seasoned team with a very low foul percntage. But the freshmen at Duke got most of the calls. Especially on second half block charges. And every close oob play.

It is easier to be aggressive when you will not be called for obvious charges. When you grab the arm of the opponent trying to save a ball right in front of 2 officials. When a frosh at another school does that, he is called for a foolosh foul. When a Duke freshman does that, it is a smart play.

Wisconsin got screwed, as has nearly every Duke NCAA opponent for two decades. Their best shooter in the tournament was held trying to move on the arc all night. It was never called.

In the NCAA tourney, it is just the way it is.

This is fantastic work right here!!

People can criticize the Duke-media love fest all they want, and maybe there's merit to it. But let's not let that diminish what Duke did this year on the court. They earned the right to be called this year's champion.

Some fans who do not like certain teams often step outside their own credibility to discredit the successes of those teams. "Blaming" the success of a team or a player on tainted officiating, preferential treatment by the media, or something called "gender politics".....and expressing this "blame" over and over again....destroys credibility.

plaino you were prepared to blame the refs regardless of what happened in Monday nights game. I mean you do have a reputation of ALWAYS blaming the refs or officials so I will take that into consideration. With Duke you have the fans who hate them and the fans who like or atleast respect them. I personally respect the heck out of Duke and Coach K and they deserved the W.

Im sorry Plaino but your hatred for Duke is making you say silly things. Please just stop

Plaino, 2 of Duke's best players were in foul trouble very early in the game so not sure how you can say the game was officiated unfairly. Duke won fair and square. Period.
