I'm a college football junkie, so that's why I was watching the replay of the LSU/Clemson game. But this time, I watched the ESPN Coaches Film Room segment and really enjoyed their insights into the game. I would never watch a live game in the Coaches Film Room and the first time I saw it, I thought it was a dumb idea. Since it was on, I decided to watch it and I have to admit that I came away with a few nuggets of football knowledge and enjoyed hearing about the game from a coach's perspective.

The coaches were Mike Gundy of OSU, Gary Patterson of TCU, Derek Mason from Vandy and newly named Boston College coach, Jeff Hafley. It was all coach-speak as they were describing the action, but a couple of times they would break things down for the average viewer. They take a few seconds to explain what Cover 2 was, where the A Gap was and why a play worked or didn't work because of alignment, execution, etc. Several times throughout the broadcast, Gundy and Patterson commented on plays that LSU ran that were similar to plays run by OU or how OU designed or executed plays, etc. Pretty cool.

As I said, I'd never watch a game live in this format, but it was pretty enjoyable watching the replay with the coaches comments.
