Was The Targeting Hit On Mayfield Intentional?

As I watched the second half in frustration, I couldn't help but wonder if the targeting hit on Mayfield was intentional inasmuch as it totally changed the game. If tonight's game was a chess match, sacrificing #42 of TCU for #6 of OU was a very effective move. Your thoughts.
