I’m getting older, yes, but I’m annoyed by the in-game entertainment. It makes it hard to focus when there is an important play about to happen. It’s a constant barrage of zany, loud noise and eye-catching but otherwise unimportant images. Some of it is advertising and I get that’s beneficial and maybe worth doing. I can live with some of that. But I don’t need to see/hear 20 minutes of The MC yelling while the big screen shows fans on camera laughing and waiving. During the timeout just before Martinez’s long run that effectively ruined our chances, they were blaring music and the MC’s try hard, exuberant voice, talking about pointless something or other and not the game, and there was darkness with flickering lights, while the defensive coaches were trying to talk to the defense about strategy for what was a huge play. Diverting the home fans from the game situation only gives away the home advantage. The song choices suck to me, too. A lot of pretty generic, modern hip hop. There was one point also when the referees had to ask that they turn the lights back on because it was past time for game action to resume. The whole thing is just really overdone.
