At any rate, on with the breakdown.
Honestly, if I didn't know how big Maurice was, I'd doubt it based on his ability to transition. You watch him go from backpedal to turn and run with receivers with real speed and he has the feel of a 5-10 guy who explodes in and out of breaks.
I see a guy who is willing to be physical, he comes up and reads an underneath route very, very well in one clip and absolutely crushes a receiver. That's not something every corner is willing to do.
The thing that sticks out to me about the kid I saw in high school and the guy I see now is how much more physical he has become. I can remember he and I talking about him playing press coverage and how 'if you're going to be there, stick a hand in the receivers chest'. It's one of my pet peeves in football and it's something he has really grown at.
Perhaps NOTHING is a better sign of his growth than how good he has become using the sideline as an extra defender. Watch him work up the field on vertical routes and how well he isolates the receiver and really cuts them off with his outside hand.
It's just outstanding technique.
Add that to his OUTSTANDING size and athleticism and I'll say again I think he is a JC guy with NFL potential.
