Portland Ct.
Different year, same old story.
Without an offensive line, there are more losses coming.....and Charlie Strong suddenly has renewed job security, as Stoops will continue to live well off his early success.

Two surprises 1) all Tx could do was run and we couldn't put a D together to stop it and 2) Lincoln Riley not being able to get his offense going even with a sorry OL.

Yup thats why I'm never getting excited about a Stoops team half way through the season. I learned my lesson with them several years ago.

The bacon drippings caught fire and we faced a grease fire. Now we drop to 20 and have rest of a hopeful season as questionable. Now it's time to let the chips fall were they may. This one was two turnovers away from being a different out come....none taken advantaged by the Sooners. If I am a senior Sooner...and I play beyond pissed the regular season.

I'm not as convinced that the horns beat us, as I am that we beat ourselves...If there was a way to mess up, we found it...

Why were you expecting that much from Riley with the OL he has?

It was a typical RRR game IMO. The team that wanted it more won. So there you go, Gramps. I still remember the John Blake win.

Yeah, CT, many of us here were concerned about the O-line, regardless of the record. Their play today made that deficiency apparent to the most pedestrian of fans. They were whipped badly all day long. But to answer your question, I'm not surprised at how things went today.

I was... disappointing loss. A template for the rest of the teams coming up. If you have good edge pressure you can derail this offense.

Shorthorns earned the win....the Sooners created no wrinkles. And that is why we lost. Predictable by Norvell....and opportunistic.

Speaking of wrinkles I am disappointed they haven't made any plays off the perine mixon wildcat since Tennessee. 1st and goal from the 4 and you come away with 3 points in the 1st half.

This offense doesn't let perine or mixon get into rhythm even if online could average run block.

Not surprised. Sans Seibert, we got outcoached, outplayed, and Mayfield got the snot kicked out of him. I've seen enough of these over my 53 years to know the record book and media don't mean squat. Total credit to the horn coaches and players.

Hard to win games when you get dominated in the center of the field. Inside pressure and penetration blows up offenses, making outside pressure unmanageable. Defensively, counting on a guy Striker's size against a team running 85% of the time against your not so strong defensive front is just silly. Texas played on or side of the LOS all day.

Agree, Dave....in my 66 years I can recall at least 12 losses or ties to Texas that surprised me:
1958...Royal used the new 2-point conversion rule as Texas scored with under 4 minutes left to win 15-14.
1959...OU blew an early 12-0 lead. UT wins 19-12.
1962...OU fumbled in the end zone for the lone Texas touchdown....UT wins 9-6.
1967...Mike Vachon missed four FG's (after kicking 4 in 1966 that sealed OU's 18-9 win)...UT wins 9-7.
1976 (tie)....OU missed an extra point in the closing seconds and a bad snap from center. 6-6.
1977....OU scored two FG's and Earl scored on a 25 yard run for the game's only TD.
1984 (tie)...blown calls and heavy rain.
1989...Texas scores with seconds left on a 4th down pass to win 28-24.
1990....Blanchard's missed FG in the last second misses. UT wins 14-13.
1991...McKinley's fumble is returned late in the game for a TD. UT wins 10-7.
2013...36-20.....the hungrier team won.
2015...24-17....ditto.

I haven't checked this out but I think I heard that since 1989, Texas is now 6-2 against OU when Texas is unranked and OU is a ranked team. Can that be right?? If so, that is an amazing stat.

This statement leaves me baffled. It's on film from last week.

"OU DB Steven Parker says they didn't prepare for Swoopes running the ball"

You just HAD to reference '84 didn't ya!!!

Kind of reminded of our refusal to make adjustments against Baylor last year, except with Texas' ground.

No matter the success, we just left 3 down on the LOS and asked linebackers to go against their big uglies.

I was still expecting an OU win today, even though I knew Texas would show up. This year was just another example for many OU fans who get ridiculously over-confident, and act as if OU just has to show up to win. We heard it around here all week from several posters. It's as if they had lost their sense of reality. They actually felt that Texas was going to just lay down in this game. I have ZERO sympathy for the epic idiots who actually felt that way.

This game was really completely decided with OUs offensive line. Period. If know Texas ran for a heap of yards on OUs defense, but I think OUs defense did enough to keep the offense in this game until late. OUs offense was just completely paralyzed by the OL all day. I was watching the game with my cousin who was an offensive linemen in college, and he kept saying over and over how pathetic and sad OUs OL was. This OL better find some answers quick or other teams will have have a field day.
