It was very frustrating and more than a little sad to me that our two senior OLs seemed to be the weakest links on an OL starting 2-3 freshmen during the first part of the season. And I think that assessment was largely correct (along with our other senior starter St Johns).

But I have to say that these two guys have REALLY stepped up since the Texas loss and have played extremely well. You don't see them getting pushed back into Baker's face routinely like we did against Tennessee or Texas. They have been great in run blocking and in pass pro. More importantly, they have done a great job picking up blitzes and Ty calling the blocking schemes. They have epitomized what you expect to see out of your senior leaders. I am very, very proud of them.

You also have to say that Dru Samia replacing St. Johns has also really solidified our OL. After a rough start, Alvarez has really settled in too. And Brown has played at a 1st team All Big XII level, minus the stupid penalties.

Our OL has gone from being the weak link of the entire team to being an area of strength. I cannot give Ty and Nila enough credit for providing leadership as they really stepped up and brought the other guys with them.
