NORMAN — According to multiple reports, Oklahoma safety Delarrin Turner-Yell recently suffered a broken collarbone and will miss the Peach Bowl against LSU (3 p.m. Dec. 28).

The news was first reported by TheFootballBrainiacs.com.

Turner-Yell has been one of the biggest pieces in a much-improved Sooners defense. He's second on the team with tackles with 75. He has 5.5 tackles for loss, three pass breakups, a quarterback hurry and a forced fumble.

Defensive coordinator Alex Grinch has said for most of the year that he was unhappy with his depth at the position.

With Turner-Yell injured, that opens the door for another sophomore — Justin Broiles — to move into the starting lineup.

Broiles has played in all 13 games this season with 15 tackles.

Well we are screwed before the game even starts

If you think that way, then you are! Good teams overcome obstacles, bad one don't and OU is a good one..what more good could ya ask then ya beat their asses and then the Media says , Man , they had to overcome a lot and stuck together to win, then ya would be true Champs regardless of what anyone says....

We also lost Barnes at Safety early on so the depth is taking a kick to the junk. Broiles scares me. He can’t keep his emotions from getting him in trouble. Manning better have a long talk with the kid.

If LSU is without their RB maybe this won't hurt as much; 3 PBUs (on the year) can be replaced and Burrows is going to chunk it 30+ times against us.

I won't be playing next Saturday.
