UPDATE: 8:51p - OK guys a lot of late night info kind of burst forth but none caught me as off guard as the word that Oklahoma might be after a third Scranton (Pa.) Lackawanna C.C. product - to join Ashton Julious and Kapri Doucet - in the form of linebacker Emmanuel Beal.
Well I did some checking and it sounds like Tim Kish was by tonight to pay him a visit and has set him up for a visit on Jan. 29.
Talking to a few sources it sounds like this may be a bit precautionary as I think Oklahoma thinks they may know their fate with a few others by then. If those don't go their way, then I think they'll bring Beal in. If they do that may not be the way things play out.
That's JUST my perception of it but it makes some sense with Oklahoma looking likely to land at least three more linebackers before Feb. 3.
UPDATE: 2:51p - I've been told that Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops was by Trophy Club (Texas) Byron Nelson to see Rivals100 defensive end Brandon Bowen. Bowen, for those that don't remember, is visiting Norman this weekend in spite of his commitment to Baylor.
UPDATE: 1:28p - Oklahoma's staff, Bob Stoops, Jay Boulware, and Cale Gundy, are making their rounds in Dallas today, notably getting by to see Cedar Hill - home of Rivals250 wide receiver Charleston Rambo.
UPDATE: 12:56p - I can confirm reports form TheFootballBrainiacs that Oklahoma will not be hosting Raymond (Miss.) Hinds C.C. wide receiver Javon Wims.
It was explained to me that Oklahoma was getting the impression the visit was more for fun than an option he was seriously considering and as such the Sooners have moved on. Think it's a thing that is best for all parties.
UPDATE: 12:45p - Pernell Jefferson has told me that he will be visiting Nebraska this weekend, he is down to his final two weekends so I can't help but wonder if he 'flips' to Nebraska this weekend and finally end this whole issue.
UPDATE: 12:35p - Oklahoma's Rivals250 defensive tackle commitment Chris Daniels hosted Bob Stoops and Diron Reynolds (as we discussed yesterday) last night.
He also hosted a member of the Ole Miss coaching staff as it seems that the floodgates have opened in his recruitment.
UPDATE 9:46a - New name that is officially showing up in OU student directory?
Kyler Cole Murray - freshman - Allen Texas
UPDATE: 9:20a - I'm told that Oklahoma is bringing in Murray, Utah strongside defensive end Maxs Tupai.
I'm still checking on whether or not he already has an offer or will be offered on his visit (I really don't envision another scenario) but I can say that he is being recruited as an inside linebacker and was visited yesterday by Tim Kish.
I'm checking for more information but this is obviously an interesting development and I think it may be a case of finding a guy to replace Pernell Jefferson in this class or perhaps is simply a reaction to the surprise departure of Dominique Alexander.
ORIGINAL: Alright guys, plenty to go over here as we get started
*First, i've been told that Briston Guidry will, as we'd hinted previously, will visit Oklahoma for a mid-week visit and I'm told that will start next Wednesday. There is a lot of debate about just how serious Guidry is about anyone outside of Arkansas but if he does take the visit, as he has scheduled, then you would have to think the Sooners have plenty they can sell.
*I have been told of a Big 10 commitment that has set up an Oklahoma visit for the Jan. 29 weekend, he isn't quite ready for his name to be out yet and as such I'll respect those wishes. His visit could still happen but there is a chance it gets canceled as he is at a position where Oklahoma could end up finding greater needs elsewhere.
But again Oklahoma is continuing to work on names, both familiar and less so, for these final few weeks of visits.
*At offensive tackle I'm told Oklahoma is not only pushing for Jauan Williams but is making some tangible progress. I'm told he has set an Oklahoma visit on Jan. 29, but he has yet to confirm that with me - working to clarify it.
However he isn't the only potential offensive tackle that Oklahoma is still in contact with as I was told today that Patrick Hudson, the long-time Baylor commitment from Silsbee, Texas has planned a midweek visit for next week as well. He is the kind of kid that won't shock me at all if he doesn't show up, pulls a late cancel, etc. However he is still talking with Oklahoma and, according to my sources, has given them reason to believe a visit is happening.
