UPDATE 11:14a - I've talked to a few sources about Jalin Conyers visit today and there is a lot of confidence that the Sooners will simply further their lead. In fact one source wouldn't rule out him pulling the trigger while on campus.
I'm not predicting he commits today but I'm just saying, keep your eye on it.
ORIGINAL: *OK, so what I'm hearing on Dontae Manning isn't great. The Raytown, Mo. Sooner commitment seems to be wavering a bit and a decommitment shouldn't come as a huge surprise to anyone.
Now I will say that I don't have the feeling that this is a guy OU feels like they need to just move on from - basically he is giving them plenty of indication that come NSD they'll be as involved as anyone. But I also think he is a kid that is starting to think about seeing what else is out thereand not carrying around the guilt about taking those trips.
We'll see where things go but again I'd bet a decommitment comes at some point and then we'll see where it goes from there but I DO NOT at this point expect Oklahoma to simply move on.
*Now, what is interesting is that when these rumors first started coming around I hit a few other people up and the response I got was largely that 'should he decommit, so will others (from other schools)'. It's a marked change I've seen from some years past where Oklahoma, on defense, seemed to be running from one place to the next. Right now on defense there just seems to be a calm of 'ok, if that happens, we'll figure out the next step'.
And in some years past I'd say 'well that's just a lack of urgency' but that's not the feeling I get, it just feels like Oklahoma isn't going to get worried about something not going their way or jump to a quick decision.
It's all very confident and steady.
*For those that have forgotten, Oklahoma will play host to linebacker offer Edgerrin Cooper tomorrow and my feeling is that this is a guy that Oklahoma could make a push for given some time. We'll see what things look like when I can catch up with him tomorrow.
