Can someone explain the Trejan deal to me? I only had the opportunity to watch the 1st quarter and then I saw the end of the 3rd quarter in a public setting with a muted TV and saw him playing DB and the camera following him for a prolonged amount of time. I guess I'm way behind on this one.

He went to the coaches and asked to change to defense. I think he saw a deep receiver depth charts and short depth in the secondary, especially at safety. He looked like a new guy his first five snaps. He put his head in a pile on an inside run and laid a decent lick on the running back. He has a ways to go.

He is a terrific athlete and has been really good on kickoff coverage. But his athleticism shows up right now, way more on offense than defense.

He had a pretty bad holding call on 3rd down that ended up extending a series that eventually led to a TT TD. He has a way to go. I think in a close game he would not have been playing on the defensive side, but with a nice lead it was a good time to insert him to see how things went. To me it's another sign of defensive improvement. Maybe a small sign but a sign nonetheless. I mean seriously, when was the last time we've seen an offensive player inserted into a game to play defense with only one week of practice?

The one play I witnessed, he didn't even have his mouthguard in. Maybe that's typical and I've just never paid attention. There was so much camera attention on him that I was honed in.
