In my opinion, this is all just a transition to the NFL style team they have been talking about. NFL teams don’t pay non-contributors big money. This model will become the norm. If a player can’t contribute or won’t take a pay cut, he’s gone. Isn’t this the sort of thing they hired Randall Stephenson for? Sadly, this will change the dynamic for HS players. They may not get recruited to the big programs out of HS. It’ll become a minor league/major league system unless they can contribute right away or accept a scholarship with little to no NIL money. But I think if you look through the smoke, this is what is happening now. And more schools will follow when the season ends. We just happen to be the worst blue blood in the country this year and got an early start.
