I'd like to see Caleb hit the open man underneath, or out in the flat and let the receiver run for another 3-4-5 yards or more , instead of waiting all day in the pocket for someone to come open deep. I love the long pass but if it's not there, dump it off. Mayfield, Murray, Hurts seem to make a living doing that, hell it won Mayfield a Heisman imo.

I like it...Boomer Sooner!

All I want are:
good blocking, good tackling, good coverage, a strong kicking game and a win.
I do not expect Iowa State to be flat and unfocused today. This is a dangerous opponent and will require OU to not be looking ahead to OSU.

Any guesses on why our pass game has disappeared other than our receivers are covered. 2 games in a row our receivers appear to be locked down, these are 4 and 5 star receivers? I doubt it’s talent has to be scheme?

Long developing routes. Mediocre to bad offensive line play. And defensive schemes playing in an umbrella fashion.

Either our receivers aren’t open or our QB isn’t seeing the whole field. But it seems to me that Williams is predetermining who he wants to throw the ball to. He threw into coverage today at least twice that I saw with open receivers available, but in both cases he elected to throw long. It seems he likes the long ball.

Well so much for that. I can't see that he is doing any better than Rattler at this point.

Yeah you're right he does throw into coverage trying to make things happen. It seemed at times that OU receivers had chances to sit down in voids in the secondary but they kept running their designed route that ended up taking them out of the holes and right into the defender in that area.

Calebs play today looked a lot like Rattlers play at the beginning of the season. The common denominator is the QB coach. Riley must not be spending must time watching film with these guys.
True Hey thank goodness Williams can run and scramble right?

They've been playing that 3-5-3 umbrella coverage and the boy wonder hasn't adjusted. You have to run the ball to get them out of that defense in order to be able to hit things over the top. I also believe that the route running is poor. The last two defenses we've played have been very disciplined with their assignments on the back end so it comes down to numbers. We send out 4 and they've got 8 in coverage keeping everything in front of them and breaking on the ball. Gotta run it to get them out of that stuff.

And CW has to get it out on time. Gotta throw 'em open instead of waiting for them to run free in space.

You can see more of the play live, and I'll say the receivers were mostly covered, but there were many clear opportunities that were missed. Rattler had a nice ball that was dropped.
I can't remember if it was Caleb's last sack of the day, but on 3rd down deep in our own territory, he looked a wide open receiver (not sure which) that was about 5 yards deep on the sideline. The closest defender was probably 10 yards away, so the receiver would have easily ran for the first.
Instead, Caleb wheeled backwards away from the receiver and right into a defender. That was the biggest head scratcher I saw.

Now that I think about it, the receiver was right in front of the ISU bench. I wonder if Caleb got tricked into thinking he was covered by having the whole ISU team behind him on the sidelines. That's gotta be the only explanation.

Seemed like Stogner and Willis are after thoughts these days...sad to say. Both very much able to make impactful plays.
Stogner needs to quit stopping on his routes, He had a big drop last week and stopped running on another target to him which ended up in a misleading overthrown ball - Stogner doesn't stop, it's on the money. He quit running (slowed down) on a route again yesterday. Guy needs to get his head in the game and go hard every play.
