give Texas some credit for coming out and playing a FNG great game on Saturday. They made close to zero mistakes and were mentally and physically tough throughout the game.

Like I said last week, they are better than their record indicates. The combined record of the teams that had beaten them up to that point was 19-1 and 2 of their 4 losses could have gone the other way. Additionally, the first loss, where they were not competitive against Notre Dame, was when Swoopes was the starter and they are a much different team with JH playing QB.

And, as we all know, you can throw out the records when these two play in the Cotton Bowl. We saw what happened in 2013 and, if you will remember, we almost beat them in the game where Sam got hurt where we had NO business being in the game with them. This one can go either way in any given year.

Additionally, I am proud of the way our team did not give up and fought back into the game despite our early struggles and missteps. I would much rather see our team respond that way than the way it has in the past (UT in 2013) where we were never really even competitive.

This game was a perfect storm of circumstances that was going to make for a very difficult win no matter what and we just didn't have enough to pull it out. Our OL is a work in progress and really affected our ability to be successful as did the early struggles of our WR's. We knew these were going to be areas of concern this year and it should be no surprise that they have been. Additionally, not having Bond certainly didn't help us in defending against a really good QB run game but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Nonetheless, we are still 4-1 and have a good chance to improve each week and become a strong team by year's end. This coming weekend is paramount to our team's success the rest of the year and we must all rally behind our coaches and players and do everything we can to support them. KSU nearly beat TCU last weekend and it is never easy to go beat a Bill Snyder coached team in the Little Apple.

We must forget about last week and avoid thinking about other games in the future. This team, and other teams in the conference, are going to change week to week and things will likely change considerably by the end of the year. The Big 12 is really good this year and it is going to be tough to win each and every week. Here's to hoping our Sooners can grow from this disappointing performance and become a better football team each week throughout the rest of the year.
