UPDATE: 11:13p - The mother of five-star linebacker Caleb-Kelly tweeted out photo evidence of Mike Stoops hitting a dab, or at least trying to, during his visit with the family tonight.
UPDATE: 2:08p - Oklahoma has, apparently, offered Bossier City (La.) Parkway 2018 wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. This according to our buddy @Jason Howell.
UPDATE: 1:50p - Also I can now confirm that Rivals250 offensive tackle Jauan Williams of Washington (D.C.) Archbishop Carroll will not be visiting Oklahoma this weekend. I know it had been stated a few times that he would be coming but he had never said as much to me and I can now confirm that this weekend's rumored visit will not be happening.
UPDATE: 1:18p - Guys, I've been checking for several days and am now able to confirm that Oklahoma will be hosting Downer's Grove (Ill.) South Rivals250 offensive tackle Erik Swenson.
At this point in time an offer has not happened but I fully expect that it will and similarly a commitment should follow.
It's a huge coup for Oklahoma this late in the game, of course assuming they can land the former Michigan commitment. I think both sides have some things they are going to be checking but this looks like something that could fit for everyone.
UPDATE: 12:31p - Oklahoma commit Kapri Doucet sent out this picture of Tim Kish visiting him and teammate, and fellow commitment, Emmanuel Beal.
Normally that's all I would say about it but Doucet looks impressive large while Beal looks shorter than Doucet, something that doesn't look the case on film at all.
Very interesting but Doucet is an interesting looking kid, while Beal still looks a bit on the small side - though the picture looks worse than reality IMO.
UPDATE: 11:54a - Just got word that Oklahoma will not be bringing in Detroit Cass Tech Rivals250 offensive guard Michael Onwenu.
It was something that was expected but just wanted to pass along that I can now confirm he won't be coming in this weekend.
UPDATE: 9:24a - Sorry that I forgot to add this note on Josh Jacobs within the original notes but it seems that a big part of Alabama's recruitment of him relies on Manvel, Texas running back D'Vaughn Pennamon and whether or not he flips his commitment from Ole Miss.
If he takes that trip to Oxford, or I guess more exactly makes it clear he intends to, then Alabama may offer Jacobs or promise one upon his arrival in Tuscaloosa.
If that happens, then this thing may get real interesting.
But as things currently stand, I still think he'll show up in Norman for an official though Missouri is definitely still in the race.
UPDATE: 9:17a - Pretty interesting tweet here from the father of Rivals250 defensive tackle Chris Daniels. Says something about the kind of recruiter that I think Reynolds is capable of becoming.
UPDATE: 9:13a - The Sooners haven't given up on Rivals250 cornerback Jared Mayden as both Bob Stoops and Kerry Cooks were in-home last night.
ORIGINAL: Alright, time to get this thing going...
***First of all something I stumbled onto in two different conversations yesterday? Oklahoma still has some optimism on Velus Jones.
That's right it's time for...
'This is the song that doesn't end...'
Jones continues to talk with the Sooners, notably Lincoln Riley, so don't be shocked if somehow this thing still works out in the end as Scoop is told that the Sooners won't be.
If you're asking Scoop, just take it as a nice bit of news on NSD if it happens, but until then don't expect a lot of movement either way.
***An interesting story that came up while searching for 2017 prospects who will be in Norman surrounds Rivals100 linebacker offer Baron Browning of Kennedale, Texas. There is some chatter out there that he had wanted to head to Oklahoma rather than Baylor's junior day, a tricky situation considering his Bears commitment.
What that means exactly? I'm not sure but it definitely says something that he was more interested in returning to Norman than Waco.
***I spoke a bit with Tulsa McLain running back Joshua Jacobs about some rumors that he might consider a midweek visit to Norman and take an official visit to Missouri, or perhaps Alabama (more on that momentarily), and he told me that won't be happening.
He is talking with his family, coaches, etc. and will come up with his decision on where he will visit this weekend. He also acknowledged, again, that pretty much wherever he visits is very likely to be where he'll play his college football.
***Last night when Houston (Texas) Westside defensive tackle Jordan Elliott decommitted from Michigan some wondered if the one-time Oklahoma offer and official visitor might decide to get involved with Oklahoma.
"That guy has decommitted four times, he can go somewhere else," a source laughed.
I also think it could be good news for the Sooners as most expect him to flip to Texas, if he does so that may not close the door on Chris Daniels but it would seem to be something for the Longhorns to overcome, with no real time to do so.
Just an interesting storyline to watch.
***Speaking of any new targets emerging, I'm really not expecting that to happen. With the possible exception of Downer's Grove (Ill.) South Rivals250 offensive tackle Erik Swenson picking up a new offer it doesn't feel as though the Sooners are going to start up any new pursuits at this late stage. They'll focus on the targets they are already involved with and close with however that may go.
That being said, I can't help but think that's something to do with a general frustration with the 2016 class. As frustrating as you all find that, I get the impression that some are just at their wit's end with everything that seems to go continually awry.
The general idea?
"Lets get onto 2017."
***Talking to a source yesterday I got the impression that the Sooners definitely want to take Montgomery (Ala.) Park Crossing linebacker P.J. Blue. But the question is if they have space to do so, I think a few players that they are awaiting word on are guys like Daniels, Jones, and perhaps even Jared Mayden.
It's unclear if the Sooners need to be clear they've missed on several of those players, or just one, before they go all in on Blue but what is clear is time is short and the Sooners may have to make a decision in the next 24 hours if they want to have a true chance at last weekend's official visitor.
***The situation with Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West five-star linebacker Caleb Kelly continues to be as confusing as any signing day approach I can remember.
If you talk to people around the Sooners program, you get the impression that Notre Dame is a very real threat and some even think if the choice was made today it would be the Irish.
If you talk to people around the Irish, it's the exact opposite.
I can't lie, more than ever I'm convinced that Notre Dame is a very real contender here but I don't know that I believe a decision has been made but there may be more known following tonight's in-home visit with Mike Stoops. Either way it's something we're all, coaches included, going to be waiting on until next Wednesday.
***An offer we missed late last night was the Sooners continued onslaught of 2018 recruiting, this time to Cypress (Texas) Cy-Ranch offensive tackle prospect Cole Blanton.
The 6-foot-8, 260-pound standout is one of the better young tackles in the Houston area and the Sooners have made themselves their first offer. It's a good first step and we'll have more with him later today.
