Don't even need to sleep on it.

This was the worst game i've seen an OU team play since November 8, 2014...and this was probably worse. Last week, we all said "It can only go up from here", and they somehow managed to go to a new low.

  1. Dillon Gabriel makes it really difficult for me to stick up for him with a performance like that. Either today was just an awful outing or that's just who he is. But if this team has to go into the Cotton Bowl without him...dawg.
  2. This team is not winning in Dallas next week. I hope i'm wrong, but they're about to play the best offense they've faced so far. If elite Heisman QBs Adrian Martinez and Max Duggan carve you up...brother. Bijan Robinson and Xavier Worthy will have this unit in hell.
  3. If i see David Ugwoegbu trot out there a significant amount of time next week, i might inserrect the team bus. It's just not working. AT. ALL.
  4. Danny Stutsman and McKade Mettauer...burn the tape to shreds.
  5. I wonder how long the lack of attention to detail/lack of communication can continue on defense. Tackling a guy and bringing him to the ground is something you learn in 3RD GRADE. You can say "BV needs his guys" all you want, and although i agree, it doesn't take 2-3 years, no matter what players are out there, to know your alignment and assignment. TCU is not a more talented team than Oklahoma, but when you don't focus on the little things, THAT happens.
  6. If this team shows up like this next weekend, they might have to carry me out of the Cotton Bowl.
  7. This is another week where i say it's the manner in which they lost that rubs me the wrong way. This team straight up quit in the 2nd half. I mean, straight folded. That's embarrasing on it's own no matter the score board.
  8. 479 yards at halftime. Four hundred and seventy nine. That's only 40 yards less than what you gave up for the GAME last week.
  9. I'm not a bedwetter and i hate jumping to conclusions, but 3-9 is sleeping in the bed with you. That's how close this thing is to going down. I don't see a game left on the schedule where i read it and say "yep, they should win comfortably".
  10. This is a unit that's afraid to make mistakes...prime example are the PI penalties, which could've been avoided. Nut up and make a play on the ball rather than tackling a guy in the air. It's clear that this defense is thinking too much when the ball snaps. That goes back to preparation (reading your keys, A&A, all that coach speak).

Final Thought: Want to echo something i said last week...preparation matters. "You win the game Monday-Friday, you just find out the result on Saturday". This had to be a terrible practice week, because i saw improvement in 0 spots from last week. I still trust the Brent Venables blueprint, and i think a year or 2 down the road, we'll all look back on this season and laugh. We knew there would be growing pains. Some are mocking the "toughness" culture he preaches about, but that circles back to getting his guys in first. He inherited a soft/feeling sorry for yourself culture, and that all doesn't change in a heartbeat. I said it last week and i'll say it again...Swinney, Saban, and Smart went through hell and back at their current jobs, and all went to the mountaintop. Even Brent himself has to adjust to being a Head Ball Coach
