So this is how I can see this year playing out.
The defense unites and plays noticeably a little better under Ruffin and the team is 10-1 headed to West Virginia.
West Virginia is 10-1 with their only loss being at Texas. WVU is ranked in the top 10 or at least very close to it. We win on the road in Morgantown.
Texas is 10-1 and ranked way to high.
We rematch Texas in Dallas at the Big 12 championship and win.
Playoff committee sees that we beat a 10-1 West Virginia team on the road and avenged our only loss of the year against a top ten ranked Texas team in back to back weeks. Then they say “it’s a completely different team since they got rid of Mike Stoops” and we’re in.
Also helping is that Georgia will be undefeated and Play Bama in the SEC championship and get hammered. Nobody will want to see a rematch and Georgia won’t be a conference champion.
