Lincoln Riley has taken 2 quarterbacks that were not good enough to start for other teams and turned them both into Heisman winners. Hurts has plenty of raw talent. Now he just needs the Lincoln polish.
I didn't say they didn't have the talent to start. Of course they are both incredibly talented. I said neither was good enough to be the starter, whatever those reasons were. One man's rags is another man's riches.I'm not thrilled with your description of both Baker and Kyler.
Both, Baker and Kyler were plenty good at their respective first schools. Simply put, they were both victims of very poor coaching and of poor coaching decisions. The reasons they transferred had nothing to do with their ability. Sumlin and Kingsbury just totally mismanaged both of them.
Well, I’m going to throw my hat in with this wonderful revelation........Tuck Fexas.

Love the H6 and H7 monikers. In addition to CeeDee, we've got two guys coming in that are going to win damn near every "jump ball" opportunity. We should still be able to stretch the field, even if his arm isn't as accurate as H6 and H7.
Love the H6 and H7 monikers.
Best thing that's been said here about Hurts.Jalen Hurts had an overall career completion % at Ala. of 62.9. That is hand grenade close to Landry Jones' career % @ OU. He was 26-2 in his career at the premier program in college football. Yet, he took being relegated to 2nd team like a man and continued to play a leadership role within the program. We've seen this play out before ( Trevor Knight ). What Hurts brings to our program is an intangible you can't create or coach...leadership, character, & loyalty. His contribution to the development of Mordecai, Rattler, our young Oline, and our incoming freshmen WR's will be huge. His presence in our locker room will be as important if not more so than his stats on the field. The kid is a coaches son with an impeccable pedigree. We are very lucky to have him at this crucial time in our program's history.
Very true regarding Alabama's offense. Hurts completed 72.9% of his passes in the action he saw in 2018. Mayfield had a 64% completion rate at Tech and Murray was at 59.5% at A&M.One thing to add.
RE: Hurts' passing numbers.
Even though Bama has "opened up" their offense, they are not yet running the same offense as OU.
Keeping up with Hurts while he was in HS, his strength was that he ad a very good arm for a running quarterback.
It will be interesting to see if he is like KM and have better numbers under Riley's system and tutelage.
I lied. I have two things.
Another thing to ponder comparing Hurts' transfer to Baker's and Kyler's, Baker and Kyler both sat a year under Riley before they could compete. Hurts will have Spring ball to get ready to compete. Will be an interesting year for OU football in 2019.
Regarding the sitting a year, Hurts has a bunch more snaps under his belt than Murray and Mayfield combined did when they got the starting nod.
Was not sure about this at first but am now liking this move. Just don't like his hair.
Hurts, despite all conversations to the contrary, is OU's best option in 2019 to start at quarterback....and not just on the field. To be "upset" over Hurts coming to OU is unfounded and silly.
"When we step on the field with Bama"?....Let's get this team playing defense FIRST. OU looks to always be good on offense, but will always remain a "paper tiger" until playing defense is taken seriously.
If they transfer out they are weak-minded; one bad play & #2, #3 are in play. Anything can/will happen in D1 as we saw last year to several of our RB's. We just watched an anomaly of a player who managed to do in one year the near impossible.
Easy for you to call them weak minded, because you're looking out for yourself as a fanatic. They have to look out for their best interest and their future.
When we want a whorns opinion we will give it to you.
Man up. It's a message board.
Hurts looked PDG making the comeback to win , beating Georgia in the sec CCG ....
I think he is a huuuuuge plus....

Some close friends of mine were immediately upset about Hurts coming to OU. Comment was, when we step on the field with Bama in the playoffs, Bama starts off with the best QB on the field.
My thoughts are, if Hurts is better than Mordecai and Rattler and wins the OU job, Bama would win the QB matchup against Mordecai or Rattler, too (Hurts not at OU).
I can't figure out who would have been the better choice and would give OU the better QB against Bama??? Not like you can just go pick your QB if you don't like who you have.
