Does Cale know something? I bet he does. Josh's Thursday update mentions a couple of very high profile guys that have decided to take visits in the upcoming weeks. Kyler Murray, head case or not (debatable), was a Texas high school legend and he too could help attract at the very least a few big time Texas recruits. And who knows? If he has a successful career at OU, he could really help get the Sooners back to raiding the Texas high school talent all over again.
If Bob and company can pull off winning one or two games in the playoffs, it would only build further momentum in recruiting for this class and next year's class.
This could be a return to greatness and dominance much like the early Stoops days. Keeping this staff together, especially Riley, is the key. One thing to consider with Riley and why he might actually stick around longer than you might suspect, is his age. He's 32 and 3 or 4 seasons at OU could put him in a spot to land a MAJOR job. If the Sooners treat him well (like giving him a huge raise immediately), and whisper in his ear that he's Bob's replacement, he might be the key link to carrying the torch beyond the Stoops era.
Right now OU is in a great place. As in anything in life, sure, it could all fall apart. On the flip side, it's very easy to see how the Sooners could be really great for many years to come. They're in a wonderful position, and if the powers that be take care of this staff and richly reward them and maintain continuity, the future looks very, very bright for Oklahoma.
Now let's go win the National Championship! Merry Christmas!
