when the 4 playoff teams are announced today, we will be amongst them. Here are the reasons why:
-the committee had us ahead of OSU before yesterday’s conference championship games; this was just after OSU had their signature win of the season and we had one of the shakiest defensive performances in years in a shoot out at WVU;
-we had a huge advantage in playing 14th ranked UT-the one team who had bested us in a close game, and our arch rival, in the early game yesterday; OSU played a Northwestern team not in the top 20 in the late game
-our re-match against UT was epic by any standards and we avenged our 1 loss, and our defense (our biggest weakness) played its best game of the season and was key to our victory; OSU had another uneven performance and was in a dogfight against Northwestern until late in the game when they finally managed to get some separation
Given the foregoing, there is no way the committee would move OSU ahead of us. 2 loss UGA had their chance and, once again, choked away another game against a BAMA team playing with a backup QB.
There will certainly be some theater today, and that’s all fine and good, but make no mistake we are going to the playoff again for the second year in a row.
Oh, and there is also no doubt that Kyler will win the Heisman Trophy. You can take it to the bank.
