The very funny Artie Johnson of laugh-in died today.

Interesting how humor has changed since the 1960's, but this skit is still funny after 50 years.
I believe that Laugh In spawned Saturday Night Live in the mid-1970's, and for me the early days of SNL were the best comedy I ever watched with John Belusi, Chevy Chase, Garrett Morris, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, Loraine Newman, Jane Curtin and Dan Akroyd. Some good ones came later like Chris Farley, Dana Carvey, Kate McKinnon, Phil Hartman, Eddie Murray.
But now, I find SNL unwatchable.

Most of those on the early Saturday Night Live were comic geniuses..
Several died way too early like John Belusi, Chris Farley, Phil Hartman (murdered), and
Gilda Ratner (Cancer).

I agree all in the early days were the best comedy I ever watched.

Sorry to hear about Mr. Johnson. RIP Arte. He always was a pretty funny guy and a great character on Laugh-In. I agree that Laugh-In was the predecessor of many skit-comedy programs, SNL in particular.

I liked SNL when it debuted, had some shaky moments in the 80s and I think it's rebounded nicely and I haven't missed a show in several seasons. The current cast and writers are outstanding and depending on the host, it can still be one of the funniest shows on TV. Love me some SNL.
