Trust me, NO ONE is more pissed about the Daniels situation than yours truly. However, many on this board are acting as if all is lost with recruiting and all the progress our program has made. This couldn't be further from the truth. We still stand a very good chance of finishing with a great class this year that fits our needs for next year and beyond.
First, if there was any position we could afford to lose a commit it is DT. Not only do we get everyone from our 2 deep back but we signed probably the best class in the country last year. Neville Gallimore was a MONSTER recruiting win for us last year-choosing us over Ohio State and many others. Everyone is familiar with Lampkin who didn't choose us initially but is with us now. Then there's another 4-star in Overton who impressed many this year. While I would love for us to land Daniels or another big DT it will not be the end of the world if we don't.
Second, the current group of commits goes a LONG way in filling our current needs. The 1st major area of concern is at OG and we have landed a BIG TIME high school talent in Johncarlo Valentin. We also landed a talented JUCO prospect in Bennett Powers. And, we have Logan Roberson-an early enrollee who is a Sooner all the way. The 2nd major area of concern is LB and, so far, we have landed a talented 4-star in Bryce Youngquist and an under-rated Jon-Michael Terry who tore it up in the Semper-Fi Bowl. Everyone knows we have a good chance to land one of the top LB's in the country in Kelly. We also have an outside shot at landing Mark Jackson. I believe Kapri Doucet and his teammate are ours if we want them. The 3rd area of concern is WR as we lose are star WR. We stand a good chance of landing a BIG TIME talent in Velus Jones. We already got a nice experienced transfer in Geneo Lewis. We also have Ryan Parker who many believe will be a HUGE player assuming he can qualify. The rest of our class will help with depth and the future. Kendall, Adams, Cobb, Parker, Sylvie and Motley are all very nice gets that will help us in 2016 and beyond.
Third, we stand a good chance to land some other VERY nice prospects down the stretch. Moore and Jauan Williams are possibilities at OL. Bledsoe and Southall are possibilities at DE. And even Daniels is still a possibility at DT.
The best thing we as fans can do going forward is showing love to not only our uncommitted prospects but also our guys who have already committed to OU. These guys don't see the love like the others and that needs to chance fast.
The last thing we need to do is bitch and moan on this or any other fan site, and CERTAINLY not on social media, about the "awful" state of our recruiting or how "pitiful" our conference is. NONE of this is helpful with recruiting or ANYTHING else. This type of s$$t will ONLY hurt us with the 2016 kids and beyond.
We couldn't ask to be in a better position as we head into NSD. Now we have to do our part to help the staff close it out nicely and get ready to go back to the playoff next year.
