In game 1, Najaree Canady has dominated. It's 3-0 and just ended. The country's best pitcher only allowed two hits one 3-2 walk. I believe it was the only three ball count of the night. Two Tech homers, one by the pitcher. One by their hottest hitter, Johnson. Both homers were solos. Tech will be a tough out.

The Longhornns play Clemson next.

Clemson defeated Texas 7-4. From what I heard it was a comedy show by the Texas defense.
Defense was poor on both sides, but poorer on the TX side.
Thought TX looked like they were sleepwalking through parts of the game. When I realized it was 12:30am while the game was still going on, I figured they really were half asleep.
Will be interesting to see how they play today.

Hopefully they lose. My focus today is on how OU plays vs Bama. I think winning game 1 is very important. Less pressure on them if they win. Alabama is a dangerous team and the last thing they (OU) needss is to play from behind if they were to lose.

So game one and two, the lower seeded team playing on the road won. I just switched to YouTube TV, and when I watched the first two innings, they taped the last five innings of the late game, so I watched this morning. Texas shortstop played so poorly, that they replaced her in the sixth. Ironically, the key play was a funky one she made, but the umps for some reason, overturned the call when there was no clear difference in the call on a force at third. I wasn't pulling for Texas, but I was surprised it was changed. So were the broadcasters. I can't think of her name, but she botched three earlier plays on slow bounding ground balls, because of poor fundatmentals. It's hard to win a natty when you're not strong a 2nd and particularly short.

Texas has hit enough to overcome most of this. But as indicated early in this thread, Clemson ain't that great. The Horns might still pull this Super out, but their future chances look dim. Clemson is one of about three teams, who routinely starts one pitcher and then brings in another after five or six. I thought they mostly played solid defense, though they misplayed a foul deep ply leading off b7 that gave Texas a chance to come back from down three. Didin't matter. White U thinks the playing better offensive players is the way to win.. Last night, it bit em in the butt.

It does seem that way, & it does surprise me a bit. He was a hella good pitcher in his playing days, so you’d think he’d tilt the balance to defense a little more than what they’ve shown so far in his tenure.

Unseeded Ole Miss, continued to be a thorn in the side of five seed Arkansas. Rebs won 9-7.

UCLA had to play a game that started at 9 am at their home in Los Angeles. They almost got run-ruled at the other USC, 9-2. 12-seed Texas Tech is leading FSU 1-0 after three. If the Red Raiders win, they'll have the first punched ticket.
Florida beat UGa pretty easily, 6-1.

Good pitcher, bad coach! Perfect for the mightyless Wronghorns! Glad we don't have him. I Iove the Gasso system/way/style of Softball.

Right now, OU and Tech are the only two in. Since Texas also started on Thursday, either they or Clemson are going tonight, weather permitting. It also looks like Oregon will win tonight, but liberty has come from behind, before.

The other matchup, I'd love it if Arky went home, although their offense might be one of the best tests for Ms Canady. The Pigs have to win two straight to get there. They don't play until 8, unless I misread the time zone.

I am pulling for Clemson over Texas. Living in Arkansas and with wife bein a Hog fan it tends to make me lean towards the hogs. On the other hand, the Hog fans I work for make it easy to root for Ole Miss. guess I will just watch with wife but show no favortism for either.

Ole Miss almost run-ruled them Friday. Saturday, they got shut out, 4-0. For those teams to have scored four total runs, it must have been a nice big strike zone.

There will be four games tomorrow. OU, Tech, Oregon and the Texas-Clemson winner will be there by the time the evening is over.

The four game-three's tomorrow, I believe they said, Nebraska v UTenn is first. Then there is a new start every hour. The rest are Georgia-Florida, UCLA-South Carolina and Ole Miss-Arkansas. The winners go to OKC. The losers go home.

Teams in red are who I think will win tomorrow. Ole Miss just doesn't have the defense to stop Arkansas and in all honesty if there is a team that worries me it is the Hogs. They are the best hitting team just behind OU. If this plays out the interesting thing is that the two best offenses will be facing off against the two best pitchers. Arkansas would play Texas Tech (Canady) while OU plays Nebraska (Bahl).

Losing on day 1 puts a lot of pressure on those teams. If OU and Arkansas was to lose those games I am not sure either team can make it all the way back to the finals. We know OU has done it before ( James Madison ) sent OU to the losers brackets a few years ago but that team had a much deeper pitching staff. Even if Tenn beats NU tomorrow it means OU faces Pickins instead of Bahl. I do believe this team is peaking at the right time but whatever happens tomorrow, the field just may be the deepest field in some time at the WCWS.
