It's here and upon us.

Hope your favorite team is off to a good start.

CT, I'm an AL East guy just like I'm a XII supporter. If my O's don't prevail, I hope your Yankees do. Best of luck in 2016 except when the Yankees play Baltimore.

My Braves got off to a rough start, blowing a lead in the ninth with two outs (up by one run at the time) and losing in the 10th to the Nationals.

Sports Illustrated has picked the Braves to be the worst team in the MLB, expecting them to lose about 100 games. I'll be happy if they play .500 ball this season.

After a snow out yesterday, the Astros are 1-0 (beat CT's Yankees?).
Yankees will be down for another 2-3 years. This year's team will again feature poor situational hitting and wasted starting pitching and by mid-August the three headed monster of Betances-Miller-Chapman will be burned up. The resurrection will begin when the Teixiera, Beltran contracts expire after this season and the contracts of Sabathia and A-Rod expire after next year. The three signings (Teixiera, Sabathia, Burnett) prior to the 2009 season yielded a championship in 2009, but wrecked the team's future.
For the record I am not in favor of the team giving Bryce Harper $300-$400 million a year after the 2017 or 2018 season. I would rather load up on several good players and good character guys than Harper, as great as he is. The A-Rod period has soured me on signing players just for gaudy numbers alone.

Yep, I need to adopt a new team to root for.
The last one I watched was the White Sox in the Frank Thomas era. Dude could jack it out. Although it didn't help them all that much overall.

So, I ask you, who's worthy, other than the standard Yankees, Red Sox or Dodgers?

I suppose I'm looking for a team that hasn't won it all in a long time, but is silently putting together all the elements for greatness.
Who you got?

The Astros are the team you want. Young and talented with a deep farm system. SS Correa is going to be a great one.

Correa is literally a Super Star in the making. There are rumors circulating that he could become the Astros 3rd baseman eventually as he seems to be still adding height. The Stros drafted one of the top SS last year.

Like you, I'm a Braves fan going back to (believe it or not) Milwaukee when I was a pre-schooler and the Braves starred a young Hank Aaron. Unlike you, I have no problem envisioning a 100 loss season for Atlanta. I'm afraid they will be "plague upon Egypt" bad. They simply have too many holes in their position players and starting rotation. I also have very little confidence in their field manager. I do think their bullpen will be serviceable and they've stockpiled some nice young players that, unfortunately, are a year or two away from being "ready for prime time."

All that said, nothing would make me happier than to see them overachieve and play .500 ball in 2016.

I know how you fell. The Astros went through three ugly, rough, record setting, 100 loss seasons. It was rough. I was excited to see return of competitive baseball in Houston last year. With the three terrible seasons, they were awarded the top pick spot for the past three drafts. As a result they have alot of young guys on the roster and down on the farm teams as well. It should be another fun season for Houston.

Fitty - I was going to steer you to the Astros, as well. Been following them since we moved here 23 years ago.
They have the returning Cy Young Award winner FROM BROKEN ARROW, OKLA-BYGAWD-HOMA.
Correa and Altuve are all-star potential up-the-middle players.
George Stringer is an all-star potential outfielder.
They have a decent rotation and some young, talented role players.

Edit to add: Plus, they are currently on a 162 win pace! Get on the bandwagon while there is still room.

Humble, I agree with you. This is the year -- Astros are going to be undefeated. After this past weekend's despondency your post has brought me back to life.
I feel it in my fingers
I feel it in my toes
Astros all around me
And so the feeling grows
It's written on the wind
It's everywhere I go, oh yes it is

162 wins?
That would put them on the eternal map.
I don't think a MLB team has ever swept the season. That would be way, historic cool.

Yep. CT I can't tell if your Yanks are hitting good or the Astros pitching is bad. I'm thinking both. 24 runs in two games... wowza. Giles a late inning pitcher just acquired in the winter is starting off very slow this spring. But so are a few others too.

So Humble, I've made an effort to discern the hot pitcher from Broken Arrow and have failed.

Who is he? Pray tell.
Dallas Keuchel.
Born in Tulsa. Went to Bishop Kelley High School, then to Arkansas University.
A 7th round draft pick by the Astros in 2009.

Let's see. The Cards are off to a bad start. They have an injured catcher, and the shortstop is on the DL. They can't decide on the first baseman, and they lost their best defensive outfielder. The pitching staff is missing one of the top top stars, and the number three has a history of arm problems.

The Cards are a shoo-in.

Keuchel should be the starter Sunday in Milwaukee.

I would think they'd save him for the Home Opener on tomorrow, but he's starting today. BTW, another kid made the opening season roster, Tyler White. He's friggin' tearing it up already. He has (3) HRs, batting 10 for 15 (.667) He's the first Astro to hit (3) HRs in his five career games.
