I have no doubt this program is heading in the right direction. I was never really sold on the idea of BV as a head coach but I think I’ve seen enough to be confident he is the right guy.

We went through a cataclysmic event when Riley unexpectedly bailed on our program 2 years ago. Then our star QB left and we were in a very precarious situation that could have led to a major fall from glory like the 90’s.

Thankfully we have one of the best ADs in the game and he handled it flawlessly. BV came in and started laying the foundation right away. The turnaround has been freakishly fast.

The first year was obviously a bitch but you could see things were headed in the right direction in the bowl game against FSU. Could also see it in the recruiting which has been off the charts. Got the program QB and are now getting the elite players on both sides of the ball that are going to help get us where we need to go.

In the meantime we have made the best of what we have. And we got out to a 7-0 start this year including an unforgettable win against a highly ranked Texas team in the biggest game of our season.

Unfortunately we have a kicker who who went to shit and have sustained a ton of injuries most notably at the RB position which has led to a lot of struggles for this team. To add insult to injury we lose our best and most important defensive player right before Bedlam. We are not yet at a place where we can afford to have these kind of personnel losses.

Despite this we still came very close to winning our last two games. And make no mistake these were two very difficult road games to navigate.

In addition to the injuries we had to play KU in terrible weather conditions that limited our effectiveness on offense. And then we had to go play a resurgent OSU team that was determined to try and win the final Bedlam game after we essentially left them for dead by joining the SEC. Throw in some very unfavorable refereeing that you would have to expect in our last year before we leaving for greener pastures and you are in trouble.

Don’t get me wrong that game yesterday pushed me to the edge several times. When we called that completely unnecessary trick play that led to our first turnover I was livid. When Nic Anderson dropped the wide open TD pass that could’ve led to us taking control of the game as we ended the first half and started the second half with the ball I had to turn off the game for awhile. OU players do not drop those type of passes for God’s sake (he just looked lost out there most of the game). And when our center snapped the ball into DG’s feet I felt like I was watching my kid’s middle school team and had to walk away again.

I don’t know if Lebby is the guy or not - a lot of the shit that has happened the past few games has been understandable in light of the circumstances. But I have complete confidence in Joe C and BV to make whatever changes need to be made if any.

I’m hopeful we will bounce back and win our last 3 regular season games and I tend to think we will. This team plays hard and doesn’t quit like some OU teams in recent memory. We also no longer have the pressure of playing as an undefeated team or a 1 loss team trying to stay in the CFB playoff race.
