stood tall last night. While we're all enjoying the heroics of Mayfield and the offense, the defense looked light years ahead of what we saw at the end of last year's season. I recognize it's only one game, but Kudos to Mike Stoops, his staff and the defense.

That's a firm.
That Mike fellow, with the gut, might be worth some further consideration going forward.

100% agree. The D is the only reason the O had a chance to pull it out at the end. Another thing worth mentioning is how cool, calm, and collected Austin Seibert was last night. He was fantastic, I thought.

Didn't our D shut down Tennessee last year as well? I'm not saying anything but I'm just saying. Pump the brakes

Definitely had a much better look. Playing up on the receivers and good coverage for our "average" defensive backs. Once they adjusted to the zone read play that was killing them, the Vols weren't able to do much else. I don't think Tennesse is going to prove to be an offensive slouch this season. This D might be for real. I'd say they look much better than their best last season.

Agree. I only wish that out linebackers were something to fear. As long as they make tackles I will be happy no doubt but Alexander is always along for the ride it seems.

I really like the two deep DL, especially the play of Jordan Wade.

Wade played pretty well, but I think Walker is playing better. And Romar and Dimon have been less flashy, but excellent. The linebackers have been better than solid. And the secondary has been really good.

Alexander has become a real inside linebacker. Evans is kind of a hybrid. He makes plays like an inside linebacker, but very few can cover like he does. Mike said it after the game. Last year, the defense was short a few players to be who they wanted to be.

This year, the depth is very good. The guy who was a baller the other night was Devonte Bond. He was all over the place. Amazingly, he got his hands on two balls, that were caught on deflection, anyway. He is playing his way into being a draft pick.

These guys are only going to get better if they stay healthy. It will be very interesting to see how they hold up against Baylor and TCU. And Texas for that matter. I think Heard might make them a factor by a month from now.

And we owe OSU something. And KState, now on their second quarterback.
