Barnhill's Earned Run Average for the entire 2017 season was about an amazing only 1/3 of a run per game. She threw a rise ball at about 70 MPH. She could control how high her rise ball went on the different pitches she threw. Some rose higher than others.

The OU coaches after seeing OU go hit less in the first 5 innings of Game #1 vs. Florida & Barnhill, told the OU players to move way up in the batters box where they could hit Barnhill's throws before they began to rise.

The strategy worked to perfection as the Sooner players in Game #1 vs. Barnhill had 5 earned runs in the total of 9 innings she pitched in Game 1, culminating with Knighten's 3 run home run to win the game. The 5 Earned Runs vs. Barnhill were probably the most Earned Runs she had ever given up in college.

Interestingly the Florida head coach never had Barnhill pitch in Game 2 vs. OU.
