Sorry, but the SEC in softball is SOOOO overrated. One of their 1 seeds lost to a 4 seed on the first day. The starting pitcher from Omaha U, threw over 160 pitches as the game went 9 innings. It was 1-1 after the 5th, but Omaha had one homer in the first inning and a two -run homer in T9. I believe there were only five run-rules so far, and two of them were in Norman. Oregon winning 8-0 and OU starting slowly. But as Cleveland State's pitcher got over 120 inning, having entered B5 up 5-0, OU scored four with two outs including Jennings' two - run homer to end it in the run rule. Lots of special interest stories for OU-Oregon.

The two Big XII teams not seeded beat two SEC teams. Baylor beat Ole Miss 3-1. UCF got way behind Auburn, then came back from 2-6 to win 11-6. Two three run homers in the fifth inning changed the game.

I'm smiling about softball today.

So far Saturday, the Big XII is still undefeated at 9-0. Unseeded Baylor thrashed seeded Louisana, with a run rule. They go to Sunday needing only one win of the losers bracket survivor. The beginning of that is Ole Miss, from the SEC, still scoreless with Princeston, in the day's first elimination game.

OU, the Horns and OSU have all already won, to advance to Sunday. UCF, who was the three seed in the Tallehassee regional, trails host Florda State late by 4. Likely a loser.

Meanwhile 1 seeds from the SEC are already in the loser's bracket. Mizzou lost to a 4-seed, Omaha in the first round. Omaha then sent Washington to the loser's bracket, using a pitcher that threw over 160 pitches Friday.

1 seed Georgia lost to Liberty, who will be in the winner's braocet waiting.

1 seed Arkansas lost to Arizona, in next year's Big XII, in the second round. So if the PIgs survive, the Wildcats will be waiting for them

Miss State is in Stanford's bracket but is trailing only 2-1, and likely headed to the loser's bracket. In an elimination game, Michigan leads Kentucky 2-1.

OU beat Oregon today and will play the winner of tonight’s Oregon- Boston U game tomorrow afternoon for the Norman Regional Championship. The winner of tonight’s game will have beat OU twice to advance to the Super Regionals. The Sooners are sitting pretty. Boomer.

Any team that wins the first is sitting pretty tonight. While the teams battle for survival using pitching energy, at a pretty tall hill. Oregon led 1-0 early. We'll see if BU's star pitcher can go 12 innings today.

Looks like it’s going to be another match up with Oregon.

Yup

And hard to believe that a pretty mediocre Virginia team shut out Miami OH who gave our staff such a hard time. And after five, they were shutting them out again tonight. UVa ain't that great. But they sure did a number on the team that was bidding to set the all time national team home run record.

About 125 miles South of where I live. There’s an infamous 1/2 mile dirt track around there in Knoxville where the Outlaw Sprint cars race all summer

I have to think that Deal is the starter, with May the first in relief, unless Kirsten just doesn't have it. Then we use the lefties that are fifth and sixth on the staff. Then I don't know what we do in game 7. Maxwell has not be very good on back to back days. I'd bet the best we get from her today is maybe three innings.

This is still loseable. We need to win this in six. Oregon is the kind of team that gives us problems. They play good defense and don't give us more than three outs per inning. And we have to stop their running game. One thing that we have as an advantage. BU made the Ducks play seven late last night. It was 8-0 after four and a half, but Boston scored one in B5 and one in B6 to make them pllay seven. We need every advantage we can get.

OUr team doesn't seem great against an unfamiliar team, with unfamiliar pitching until we see them a couple of times. And we seemed to keep trying hit fly balls to right, except for Jada. We did okay against their starter, because we saw her yesterday. And Melissa let her pitchers see our batting order once. And then changed. It's been an effective strategy against OU in tournaments before.

It's a very different day if Boone hadn't made a sensational throw.

Sanders is not much help at the plate and hasn’t been for a while. She is batting below .255, which is very uncommon for a Sooner starter. Torres came in late to play 1st base so perhaps she will start the next game. I hope so. Great game for our pitching staff. Better get ready for more games like this one going forward.

Baylor got maimed in game 6 against host Louisiana (remember them?) in a run rule shutout. But the Bears came back to give the conference their fourth team to the Supers of five.

Meanwhile Liberty at UGA lost the double header to UGA with the home team getting a few crucial balls call. Still, Liberty led by a run with two outs in B7 of the second game, when the Bulldogs won it. I was praying like crazy for Dot Richardson's team, but alas.

Another unfairly too highly seeded was Mizzou at 7. They lost like Arkansas did to a 4 seed. Theirs was in the first round. Arkansas nationally seeded went home before Sunday. Omaha's stud pitcher Kamryn Meyerr threw nearly 400 pitches in the first three games. Two of them were wins not only against Mizzou, but also against Washington. She ran out of gas in the first game Sunday, but taking a 1-0 lead into the seventh, but gave up five runs. They started their number two in game 7, but Mizzou shut them out and scored in B9 to win 1-0 to advance. It was a pretty tough regioinal.

So with their home cooking, Mizzou and UGa advanced to Supers. The Tigers get to host.

Out west, Stanford, without their star pitcher Canady, almost got run ruled by Cal State Fullerton. So they'll have to face them again in game 7

Auburn went late late late to beat UCF last night. I think it went 13. But I doubt they can doubly dip Free Shoes U. Right now, it's close in the first game. FSU only has to win once.

I think Sanders is about 1 for May. I don't understand why she's playing first over Alenah Torres. Her hitting has dipped a little but not close to Sanders bad. At this point, we can play with essentially an automatic out.

Well now, the Supers are set.

1 Texas host Texas A&M

2 OKLAHOMA hosts Florida St

3 Tennessee hosts Alabama

4 Florida host Baylor who is one of two unseeded teams to make it

5 Oklahoma State hosts Arizone, the other unseeded team to make it

6 UCLA host Georgia who game 7 with Liberty after trailing going into B7

7 Mizzou who also had to go to the 7th inning of game 6 to beat Omaha, then extra inning to beat the 4 seed

8 Stanford who lost game 6, 8-1 and trialed game 7 early, hosts LSU

The idea that all these underperforming SEC teams got three of the top ten is absurd, but the committee has been doing that for them for a couple of decades.

They had NINE teams that hosted regionals, and they had the only league that hosted and didn't make it.

Georgia, was an ELEVEN SEED. But somehow, they got a regional with ZERO other P5 teams in it. That's absurd. And they were assured by the committee of having two in the World Series because they are in the same SUPERS.

The SEC had two teams that did make it because they got home cooking on balls and strikes after losing before the finals despite being at home. If you watched any of the Omaha - Missou game. Omana's pitcher couldn't get an edge strike in the seventh, after carrying a 1-0 lead into the seventh. It's disgusting to hear all this praise. of the SEC when they get such favored treatment in bracketing which leads to having local officials.

Alabama was a 14 seed. But the only P% team they got was Clemson, who didn't have their elite player/pitcher available to pitch. They lost in the first round. WHY does the 14 seed get that preference, especially because they are know for being one of the five places in softball with the most favored treatment by officials.

Arkansas was a 12 seed. At home, they lost to Villanove 7-2 to get eliminated. Villanova's RPI was 84.

I will still stand against this absurd SEC favoritism once we're in the league. It's been so blatant for close to 20 years. And they underperform nine years out of ten in the NCAA's.
