UPDATE: 10:19p - I'll have some more in the morning - Super Bowl Sunday is always a tricky time to catch up with guys but one guy who REALLY loved his visit? Manvel, Texas 2022 linebacker Justin Medlock - who has some sophomore tape I really, really like.
"I knew it was going to be amazing but they blew me away yesterday. It was great," Medlock said.
He is yet another linebacker that came back raving about the time around second-year linebacker coach Brian Odom.
"I can tell he really cares about his players. Not just on the field but off of it as well," he said.
UPDATE: 9:59p - So with several new names we didn't expect I wanted to do a little house keeping Clayton Smith had a funeral he had to attend and wasn't able to make the trip.
Devon Campbell and Terrence Cooks both had trouble with their rides but I'd expect both to make a trip sometime this spring.
ORIGINAL: Alright guys, already been tracking down info and I'll keep adding stuff but thought I'd get it going with a few key notes...
*First off, Oklahoma really liked how things went with 2022 quarterback/athlete offer Alex Orji.
"I think (Oklahoma) can get him down the road," a source said.
"Things seemed to click," another said.
I'm supposed to catch up with Orji today but what I did find interesting is the idea of where he seems to fit into plans. Orji can have a look at quarterback if that's what he truly wants but there is some sentiment that his brightest future might be on defense.
"(Oklahoma) will recruit him wherever he wants, he's a freak," a source said.
*Secondly the offer to Southlake (Texas) Carroll 2022 quarterback Quinn Ewers was one that should have an impact going forward.
"(Oklahoma) should feel good about him, that's a good early offer and I know he's really interested," a source said.
But what about he and Orji?
"(Oklahoma) would take them both and let it work itself out. Again, Orji looks amazing, that dude might be impossible to keep off of a defense," a source said.
*Sticking with the 2022 DFW area theme, a running back that Oklahoma seems to be making real headway for is Ft. Worth Nolan Catholic running back Emeka Megwa.
"That guy, like Orji, just looks ridiculous," one source on hand said.
"I think Oklahoma will get him."
That is, obviously, boosted by his connection to recent linebacker commitment Kobie McKinzie as the Scoop talked about on Friday.
*One guy who didn't hold an offer, nor pick one up, is Greenwood Village (Colo.) Cherry Creek three-star defensive end Arden Walker. However, he did confirm getting to meet with first-week assistant Jamar Cain.
"Yeah, I hung out with him but I spent most of my time with (Calvin) Thibodeaux," Walker said.
Though he didn't pick up an offer Walker says the contact with Oklahoma is very recent and the Sooners could make something happen before long.
"(No offer) yet but I’m on the radar now and I definitely think it’s coming very very soon, so I can confirm that," he offered.
Again...more coming.
