A High School Football Field Somewhere
UPDATE: 6:23p - Following his visit to Norman, Jared Mayden announces he will decide between Oklahoma and Alabama during a signing day ceremony at his school on National Signing Day.

UPDATE: 6:15p -
Spoke, briefly, with Cibolo (Texas) Steele four-star defensive end/outside linebacker offer Mark Jackson who confirmed for me that even after his visit to Texas A&M this weekend - where he is committed - he will be visiting Norman next weekend.

UPDATE: 3:04p -
Oklahoma has offered Southlake Carroll WR Zach Farrar, per his Twitter account. Farrar recently committed to play football & baseball at Mississippi State, we'll be checking in with him on his interest.

UPDATE: 1:36p -
Talked some more with Joshua Jacobs about his situation with Oklahoma and the Sooners will be in Tulsa tomorrow to see him, led by Jay Boulware and likely Lincoln Riley.

Also, according to Jacobs, possibly in on the visit? Bob Stoops.

I was wondering why Gundy and/or Dennis Simmons wouldn't be there so I asked him if they had told him where he was being recruited.

"Running back and some slot, they said anywhere that they can get the ball in my hands," Jacobs explained.

UPDATE: 1:19p -
I have also spoken with three-star Bubba Ogbebor of Frisco (Texas) Heritage about a potential Oklahoma visit and he tells me he has stayed in contact contact with Oklahoma - namely Lincoln Riley and Gundy.

He is under the impression and offer is coming soon and that the Sooners will be by to see him this week.

If you made me say 'who is the most likely receiver offer', Ogbebor would be my choice.

UPDATE: 1:13p -
I've spoken with Tulsa McLain three-star athlete Joshua Jacobs and he has already heard from Cale Gundy and Jay Boulware. So far I've not yet heard what the plan is but I'm guessing Oklahoma makes their way by to see him this week.

Regardless though Oklahoma is giving him a serious look and an official visit next weekend isn't hard to envision.

UPDATE: 8:48a -
Guys, I've already had a lot of questions about who might be Oklahoma's next chosen player to pursue in the 2016 class if they are out of the Jones saga, and two names that have already emerged to many of you are Tulsa McLain's Joshua Jacobs and Daingerfield, Texas's Baylor commitment Denzel Mims.

But a name that I've had an eye on for a while is Frisco (Texas) Heritage Bubba Ogbebor. A few weeks ago he told me that he had been talking to a point that Oklahoma was talking to him about bringing him in on Jan. 29 for an official visit (yes, I keep all kinds of things under my hat) but I really felt it was reliant on what happened with Jones and Quartney Davis.

Now that ship seems to have sailed so I'm checking around to see if Ogbebor is now truly an Oklahoma target.

But definitely he is a name to keep an eye on in this last week or so.

ORIGINAL:
Just wanted to get this out, was told late last night that Oklahoma is out of the Velus Jones situation. I think there is a feeling that no matter what they do the kid is set on heading to USC.

"He may flip 2-3 times but it seems like no matter the facts, he's going to USC," said one source showing obvious, and understandable, frustration.

It's recruiting and it's the final week so I'll never say never but I'd be surprised, based on what I was told, if Oklahoma spent any more time on this situation.
