Strong bumps Ref...........

Nope, a little self control.

Is that all you saw? Sub Bob Stoops for Charlie Strong and see if you would have a different opinion and yes Bob is known for some tantrums too.

We don't no what was being said, so the penalty may have be justified, but I've never seen a ref chase a head coach. You usually see the back turned. I just thought it was strange and hope it never happens to us........

Based solely on the video, the ref absolutely bumped Charlie and threw the flag. I suspect something had been said prior to the penalty being called that the ref didn't appreciate, and he may have used Charlie's rant as an excuse to throw the flag. Totally a guess on my part, but I have no doubt that it could happen in Texas. I didn't see the defensive hold play but everyone I talked to said it was a pretty weak call. I got the impression that it was called on a DT during a run play?? Is that correct? I have an idea there are some that don't want Strong to succeed as the HC for the Longhorns. Would that surprise a lot of people? Wouldn't surprise me.

I don't want him to succeed either. I don't want any Texas coach to succeed.......

That's what I saw/thought too. Strong must have crossed the line with whatever it was he said and when reaching for his flag, the ref was the one who bumped into Strong.

And yes, the holding call by the horn lineman was an incredibly terrible call.

Ha, I'm with you, K2, but we are OU fans. I remember there was a time a lot of Sooner fans were hoping Blake would lose so we could get a new HC. I think that is happening down on Austin now is all I'm saying. Strong was an unpopular hire, and he has sh** the bed thus far.....and it looks like he is going to have the bowel problems for some time.

I doubt this link works because of me. A forum called old rivalries has a good pic of the hold. Texas lineman is on one knee and pulling down offensive lineman who was going to block a linebacker.

Back to the subject. I don't know who bumped who. I watched a video with a view from behind. The ref was stunned by something Charlie snapped at him. The first time I watched I thought he scared the ref.

Watching that video made me very uncomfortable.. That game was very poorly officiated. To me, it was on both sides. But that side judge looked to me like he initiated the bumping.

Core Value #28, "When struggling, call attention to yourself and draw a flag in an effort to take pressure off the team."

To me, I see them walking side by side w/ Strong mover closer and then moves in front of the Ref and the Ref bumps him. But eitther way someone wants to view this, Strong attempted to intimidate the Ref.

Every coach, every Saturday does this. Its part of the game. There is more to the penalty than simply an attempt to intimidate. Strong said something out of the ordinary, or the referee was looking for an excuse to throw the flag. I would bet that referees could call such a penalty on coaches almost, if not every game if they had a mind to so. But they can't because no conference would allow it and they wouldn't be officiating college football very long. I only seen one view of the "bump" but what I saw looked to be a referee intentionally bumping into Strong while almost instantaneously reaching for his flag.

Dude. Watch the video, the right DT was the one called for holding. You can't watch a still shot and make that call.

First off my name's not Dude. I've seen the other videos. How in the world do you know what point the official called the holding penalty? You picked a part out that fits horn claims. Vahe might get away with more holds if he got a haircut. How could you not notice that hair.
The situation is whining about something the other teams have dealt with for all of the Mack years. I'm sure you remember that Macks buddies mainly Randy Christal pulled some wins for Texas that were bogus. I'm not going to start posting them. The thing everyone needs to do is Google Randy Christal retiring. The page comes up with the answer to Texas favoritism. Strong needs to lay off the turtle wax on his chrome dome and have some values of the foul mouth.
Carry on with the whining but You won't get any sympathy from anyone with a memory. Bad calls or not it's your turn apparently. Mack Brown curse or just Karma? How about those Cowboys?

Ya that holding call was just pathetic. If that had happened to an OU player, Bob would have blown a gasket and Mike prolly would have a stroke up in the box.
Cmon Billy you know that holding goes on many plays. Longhorn apologist all the time. Message board are for fun, you act like a Dudley Doright riding to the rescue. Let them take up for themselves you ain't their big brother. Geez that gets old.

A pathetic holding call is a pathetic holding call. I will call it like I see it it, regardless of what teams are playing. So instead of crying about if I am riding to the rescue of horns just because I view the call with an open mind, maybe you should look at yourself and how you decide how you are going to judge a call by what uniforms the players are wearing.

Open your eyes and look around before you hurt yourself. .Offensive holding occurs a lot, but not defensive.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, defensive holding on a run play has occurred only 61 times from the more than 49,000 FBS penalties called since the start of the 2010 season. That’s less than 0.13 percent.

The bigger picture is that it was one of 16 penalties and 11 of the 16 are considered judgement calls. In comparison Texas had averaged 6 per game in the previous three games.

I keep trying to move on but people keep sucking me back in.

Sorry, but the holding is clear in that video. Hand full of jersey trying to keep the O lineman from coming off the double team and block the second level. It may be a petty call, but it's an accurate call.

I find it humorous that the opinion that he was holding is nowhere to be found outside of the Sooner boards.

And even alot of OU fans over on the pay board can be honest and say it was a total BS call too. Of course no OU fan feels any sympathy for Texas over the call, but not all view the play through crimson colored glasses.

As far as I'm concerned, Strong didn't bump him hard enough. For those of you with 10 year memory, that line judge is Kelly Deterding, the same Kelly Deterding who called Taurean Henderson's deciding TD in the '05 Lubbock fiasco (& by fiasco, I mean screw job).

Texas got screwed big time but that's what happens to programs in decline (we know how that works from the Blake years). Strong put a nail in his coffin with the sideline penalty that put the Pokes in short FG range to win the game. Lets hope he doesn't use that as motivation to somehow win the RRS.
