Not to know that Mike's defense would never carry OU to a national championship. I think that got him thinking about firing Mike and he wouldnt do that and the way out of the problem was to retire. The more he thought about that the more it seemed the answer to several problems which he publically acknowledged. I think that was the motivation that got him started on the retirement train.
