In honor of Saturday's big game at Tennessee, I have come up with a few fun factoids relating to non-conference games in the Stoops era (since 1999). Keep in mind these DO NOT include bowl games.

The Sooners' most frequently scheduled non-conference opponent is the University of Tulsa. OU has played its in-state foe eight times since 2001. They play for a 9th time under Stoops a week from Saturday in Norman.

OU has played only 5 non-conferences games outside of the months of August or September. They are 2-3 in those games. Two of the three losses were against Notre Dame and the third was a one point loss at Miami in 2009.

The Sooners have played only 1 non-conference game in November - against Tulsa in 2001. The game had to be re-scheduled due to the attacks on September 11th of that year.

Since 1999, the only conference that the Sooners haven't faced is the Big Ten. However, the Sooners are scheduled to play Ohio State in 2016 and 2017.

OU has faced only 4 FCS (formerly D-1AA) teams under Bob Stoops. It seems like some ACC/SEC schools schedule two per year nowadays.

The most points scored against a non-conference opponent is 79. That was against North Texas in 2007 (Sam Bradford's huge debut). The least points scored against a non-conference opponent is 10 (against TCU in 2005).

OU is 50-7 overall in non-conference games coaches by Bob Stoops (11-5 in games away from home).
The Sooners are 13-3 against opponents from AQ/Power 5 Conferences. All three losses were on the road (@ UCLA in 2005, @ Oregon in 2006, @ Miami in 2009).
