State of The Sooners...

Please go to a 4 man front. Kelley will get swallowed up at the Jack in run defense or washed out rushing the QB.

Probably time to accept that though not a bust, Kelley isn't going to play to the hype. Though I like both guys, neither Bolton or Kelley will appear to wow anybody. Wouldn't be upset to see Draper in there.

I am confused...everyone keeps talking about a Jack LB which is a stand up LB in a 4 man front. What I saw Sat. was a true 4 man front with Perkins' hand in the dirt as well as Mann's and 2 LB's. We may have gone to a jack occasionally but we were in a base 4-2-5 most of the game and I never saw us in a 3 down prevent D.

There were a handful of times we had two true DEs opposite each other in Mann and Perkins. But our starting lineup from snap 1:

Mann - DE
Gallimore - NT
Bledsoe - DT
Jackson Jr - Jack (standing)
Ryan Jones - OLB
Bolton - WLB
Murray - MLB
Motley/Norwood - CB
Haughton - FS
Bookie - SS

I'm not sure that Kelley can't play the JACK this year. He's supposedly up to 235+. Not sure I believe it, but maybe. I still think he could be a special player with skill up to his praise. He's just not finding the right spots in this silly defense of Mike's. He might end up in the long laundry list of recent OU defensive players that didn't wow in college, but end up being perennial starters and potential All-Pros in the NFL. It's really ridiculous how much NFL talent Mike has had in the last 8-9 years and didn't do much of squat with them in college.

*Boogie*...... <I think?>
JCon...It's Bookie...Unsure of its significance...

On a side note, I supposed he was wearing #44 because of a possible admiration of Boz, but it's because of a connection to his brother who wore it, and has passed away. He has another brother who is also wearing #44...

I had only watched highlights but went back and watch the full game and you are right about the "jack" alignment to start. I am encouraged that we showed a true 4-man front and that we did not show a 3-man prevent.
